She hasn't stopped yelling, poor Shawn is only now back and he doesn't even wanna be here. He came for me, and I'm completely regretting asking him to come. He doesn't deserve this disrespect and she yells at me if I try to defend. Shawn's parents have offered to take her for a week and Shawn thinks he should just leave and let her stay happy. She used to be happy when he was around but she's forgotten how to be happy. "I hate you!" She drags her hand sharply across his cheek she'll leave a bruise for sure. He simply ignores it, does his best to anyways and plays with our daughters tiny fingers while she looks around opening and closing her mouth. She's only recently discovered that ability and she's so amazed by her capability. "I wish you weren't my dad!" Her fists ball in rage and before anyone could say anything she hits him, she hits him to hard in the wrong place and he falls unconscious. This is what triggers things, he's still missing a part of his brain and he could forget everything and everyone. I'd have to give him up for my kids and I can't do it without him.
"Skylar Angelique Mendes," I challenge pulling her away from his limp body. "You are grounded, go to your room." I point and she opens her mouth. "Now," my voice just as sharp as I tap my foot impatiently. She finally moves. "Lucy, can you get Sierra and head over?" I beg. "Geoff and Matt would be helpful too?" I check his pulse it's still there it kind of feeble but it steady.
"We'll be over soon." She barely even cares about what I need she just knows I need her. So Geoff and her will be over and so will Sierra and Matt. They have a thirteen year old son who will watch over Geoff and Lucy's six year old daughter. They're good friends and they're really sweet kids.
"Shawn," I smile when his eyes open. "Shawn?" He jumps but can't move otherwise. "Tell me your name?" I touch his cheek which makes him mad looking, he doesn't know what else to do. "What is your name?" I beg and he shakes his head looking down in rage. He can't remember, he can't even speak. "Can you tell me my name?" I give him a smile but he can't, he just doesn't know. "Come on love, I'm Cameron you know that." I touch his fluffy hair and he grabs my wrist just as amazed as our young daughter at his new found ability.
"Mama?" Noah and Skylar both peak around the corner watching their poor father struggle to speak, to move, to feel, and to understand. He doesn't know what's happening and there are too many people he'll get scared. "Mama?" Noah pout running towards me in tears while he stares at his confused father who only gets scared when he sees Noah's tears.
"No, no sweetheart we can't cry in front of daddy." I grab the car seat and lead him away towards their bedroom. "Daddy's sick baby." I hum kissing his head. "Daddy's gonna have to go away," I try my best not to think about it but they have to understand.
"Why?" He pouts and Skylar looks down all ashamed like. She'd wanted him to leave but not like this.
"We'll get to visit daddy, I promise, it's just gonna be different." I nod kissing his head and sitting him down.
"When does daddy come home?" He wipes his eyes trying to focus on the positives.
"We don't know baby, it depends on how sick daddy is. I'll leave Precious in here for a minute ok?" The surrogate has yet to give birth, and thank god it's her or we wouldn't be getting Precious.
Shawn yells out his incoherent noises looking for help and when I near I see why. "Can one of you please grab me the wheelchair? And can the others stay with the kids. They haven't eaten yet, and they have school tomorrow but I have to get him to the ER." I wanna touch his cheek, fluff his hair, anything. But I can't, contact scares him. It's just so unnatural, he's usually all about cuddles and I can't even smile at him without him feeling uncomfortable.
"Want someone to go with you." Sierra smiles weakly earning another jump from Shawn while he simultaneously tries to fight Matt and Geoff who get him into the wheelchair and then start towards the car.
