Thank you so much for over 1k reads! I am thrilled people are reading my story and hope you all continue on since exciting things are in store
The loud chatter from the ball seems to die down quite a bit as I weave my way around couples who are leaving, trying to find someone I now consider a friend. Once I reach the end of the long hall, no one else is in sight, yet I can hear the heaving breathing of someone nearby.
I assume it is Hermione since she had tears rolling down her face as she left the winter wonderland. "Hermione is that you?"
I try to figure out where she is, but for some reason she is nowhere to be seen, especially with the darkness looming in the hallways. "Hermione please tell me where you are, I want to help."
I reach the staircases, but decide to head towards the opposite end of the castle where it is nearly deserted. If she is upset, I can assume she does not want people to see her in this state.
I pause in place for a second to gather my surroundings and focus in on the breathing. As I do this, I hear nothing but a thudding heartbeat around the corner. "Hermione?"
I cautiously walk towards the edge of the stone wall in hopes of finding her, and as I do, the floor creaks beneath my heels, echoing into the hall.
I turn the corner and come face to face with a girl. I know right away that it is not the person I am looking for though. She starts chuckling as I try to make my face neutral again.
I remain silent as I look the girl up and down, wondering why she was all alone in this abandoned part of the castle.
She is the first to break the tense silence, "So now you have nothing to say?" My eyes snap into a hard look as I try to figure out what she is getting at. She maneuvers her body to lean against the wall, making the situation seem much more casual, but I know for a fact that it is anything but casual.
Her voice alters to one that was soft and pronounced every syllable of her words, "I have thought a lot about what you said to me...about how death bothered you for personal reasons, and I have realized why."
She gives off a vibe as someone who does not have bad intentions, but there is something about the way she dances around her main point that makes me believe she is not as innocent as she seems.
Finally I speak up, "Hmm is that so?" She nods her head in one quick movement, yet does not respond to my question. "I don't think that is possible because if you did, you would know that it isn't smart to bring it up."
Her eyes meet mine in a questioning gaze and my cold glare does not budge. "Do their screams haunt you to sleep each night?" I am slightly taken by surprise when I hear those words slip out of her lips like venom trying to poison me. "Or do you relish in their pleads asking you for mercy?"
My lips pull into a straight line, unhappy with the direction this is going. "What exactly are you trying to get at?"
"Don't play dumb, Alexia. I know exactly who you are...or well what you are." I scoff as I call her bluff, knowing that if she knows what I am that there is nothing she can do to stop me.
"I bet you don't even know my name. Am I wrong?" I keep my lips pressed into a firm line, showing no notion as to whether or not she is right. "Lillian. My name is Lillian and you murdered my brother, drained him of blood just like the rest of your victims."
She isn't wrong, I know what I did to Aaron. I cross my arms over my chest in a strong and protective way, "Where did you get the vervain?" I compelled her the other day but clearly it was not effective.
A small smirk forms on her lips as she responds in a confident way, "Passed down in my family. Aaron did not know the family secret yet because of his innocent nature...and now he never will thanks to you. You're lucky I haven't told anyone yet because the minute they know, you are dead for good this time."
