After cooling down a bit, we sat down on a bench outside the destroyed Center.

"So, what was the message about?" I asked Elise.

"Uh, there was one for someone named Aleksi and someone named Soleil."

"That may be us." Soleil said, flashing her Trainer Card.

"Oh! Here, this one is for you and this one for you." Elise quickly handed each one of us a silver box. I opened up mine and found a rolled up letter tied with ribbon, a Holo Caster, a badge case, and... the Bug Badge!? I unrolled the letter and read it.

Dear Aleksi,

By the time you read this letter, I will most likely be in the realm of the legendaries. I only hope Elise finds you before you leave Santalune.

In this package, you will find a couple of things that may be useful to you.

I also have advice. After your gym battle with Grant, show him the Bug badge as proof that you are on our side. He may have valuable info.

I may not be there in life, but I'll be with you in spirit.

I quietly rolled up the letter. I picked up the Bug Badge and snapped it into the badge case.

"Soleil?" I looked over.

"When did she write these letters?" Soleil drilled Elise, who blanched.

"Er... about 2 days after she got into the hospital, I think." Elise muttered.

"She knew... She knew she was going to... Why didn't you say anything!?" Soleil cried, burying her face in her hands.

"The only person she told was me, but she said not to tell anyone else." Elise mumbled reluctantly.

"Just how do you know all of this?" I asked.

"Well, uh, to tell you the truth, I'm actually Viola's niece."

"WHAT!?!?!?" Soleil and I both screamed.

"My mom is Alexa, who is Viola's older sister. She sent me here on a vacation." Elise explained quickly.

"Then why wern't you also injured at the gym?" Soleil asked.

"I was on Route 3 playing with my Pokémon. I found the gym in ruins when I got back." Elise replied.

"Who are your Pokémon anyways?" I asked. Elise pulled out 2 red PokéBalls.

"I'll show you. Go, Cloudy and Flabé!" The 2 PokéBalls in her hand opened, releasing a flash of light.

On the right was a blue bird-like Pokémon with streamers for tails and fluffy cloud-like wings.

The other Pokémon looked like a really tiny pixie holding a pink flower.

"You must be a really good trainer to be able to control a Dragon-Type!" I exclaimed, impressed.

"Well, I'm actually a Breeder. I've had Cloudy here since she was a Swablu." Elise admitted.

"Oh."

"So, where are you headed?" Elise asked.

"We're going to Lumiose City to pick up supplies, then Cyllage City." Soleil explained.

"Oh! I live in Lumiose with my mom. Could I go with you to Lumiose at least, please please please?" Elise begged. Soleil and I looked at one another.

"Why not?" Soleil said, grinning.

"Yay!" Elise squeaked.

Looks like we got ourselves a new traveling buddy.

Looks like Aleksi and Soleil have got themselves a new buddy, or 3.

Is Elise the spunky 1st grader she is, or is she hiding more secrets?
