Chapter 31: Flashback: Part 2

Valerie narrowly dodged a Flash Cannon attack, accidentally whacking an admin in the face with her dress sleeve. The admin crumpled to the ground.

Grant, Korrina, and Olympia had all nagged her about MAYBE wearing a more battle-appropiate outfit.

Her thoughts? Ha ha ha, NOPE.

Valerie dashed off in Liza's direction with her Sylveon, Mawile, and Mega Audino running after her.

Then, there was another yell.

"VALERIE!!" Misty shrieked.

Valerie skidded to a stop and turned to Audino.

"Who first?"

"Aud, ino." Audino pointed in Misty's direction. "Audino, dino, audi."

"Oh..." Valerie trailed off as Audino's words sank in. "OK." Valerie dashed off toward Misty. Sylveon shot off a grunt with Moonblast that was attacking Janine.

"What's the problem?" Valerie panted.

"Lorelei. A Glalie managed to hit her with Sheer Cold. Crobat, Poison Fang!" Janine yelled, throwing a shuriken.

"Ironic, much?" Valerie muttered under her breath while running over to Misty.

"Lorelei! Here, let me take a look." Valerie said to Misty.

Misty nodded.

Lorelei's right leg was frozen, and she was shivering violently.

"Mawile, break the ice! Audino, Heal Pulse!" Valerie commanded hurriedly.

"How come you didn't go to Tate and Liza first?" Misty asked Valerie.

"Tate is... He's already gone." Valerie replied.

"Oh no... Poor Liza." Misty murmured.

"Mawile!" There was a shattering sound, and ice shards clattered on the floor.

Valerie turned around, and frowned.

"Audino, continue. Mawile, Flamethrower!" Mawile's jaw opened, and a small flame appeared.

"How long has she been like this?" Valerie demanded furiously.

"She told us it was from a couple minutes into the battle before she lost consciousness." Misty commented worriedly.

"Not good... Sheer Cold is an one-hit knockout attack on Pokémon. On humans... The effects are drastic. If her leg has been frozen for that long... Misty, I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do anymore." Valerie concluded.

"B-but..."

"Her leg's been disabled, and the freezing temprature is going to stop her circulation system. I can slow it down, but that's it." Valerie cut in. "I'm sorry, you guys."

"No... Lorelei, wake up!" Misty screeched. "Wake up!!"

Janine knelt down next to her.

"Misty... It's no use..."

"No..." Misty whispered.

"Janine! The battle's over?" Valerie asked.

"Yeah. The grunts and Admins are all gone. Look, there's everyone else, se- Oh, no..." Janine trailed off as Cynthia and Thornton came into view.

Valerie whirled around to see Palmer lying on Cynthia's Garchomp's back. Liza walked up with her Lunatone and Tate's Solrock, with Tate suspended in midair with Psychic. His shirt was stained with blood, and Palmer had a trickle running from his mouth.

"Misty! Janine! What happ-Oh." Cynthia saw Lorelei lying on the ground.

"Arbok?" Janine gestured to Arbok, who slung Lorelei on his back as Candice and Maylenne ran up.

The 4 Sinnoh trainers looked at each other, and yelled, "YOU'RE TELLING PEARL!" at the same time.

"Ouch." Misty muttered. Valerie nodded.

"Hey, where's Chili?" Maylenne asked, after the stareoff.

"Over here!" Chili yelled indignantly, limping up with his Pansear on his shoulder.

"What happened to YOU?" Thornton interjected frustratedly, shoving Cynthia aside. "You look like you went through a blender!"

With a broken arm, twisted ankle, and multiple cuts and bruises, Valerie had to agree.

"Audino, Heal Pulse!" Valerie commanded.

Audino waddled up to Chili.

"Oh, no. Oi, Valerie, tell your Mega Audino to back of-"

Chili didn't finish his sentence as he collapsed on the ground.

"Chili!?" Candice yelped.

Audino closed its eyes. After a few seconds, it opened them, and shook it's head.

"Oh, Arceus... Cress and Cilan are going to be horrified." Maylenne gasped.

"Might as well get going." Misty said.

"So... That's what happened." Dahlia concluded sadly.

Soleil and I looked horrified.

"Let's get out of this Arceus-damned cave. I don't think I'm stepping foot in here for a long time." Cynthia said, walking out.
