Chapter 19: Power Plant Problem: Part 1

>Aleksi<

Ramos's room was at the top of the gym. Challengers had to climb and use swinging vines.

Ramos and I chose the elevator.

Gardenia immediately jumped on a vine.

"Shouldn't we-"

"Whenever she comes to my gym, she does that to get up there. Last time someone tried to stop her, they ended up picking thorns out of their clothes. Now come on."

◆◆◆

"What was your overly important buisness, Gardenia?" Ramos demanded.

"The satellite launched into space by Sinnoh has been picking up high energy levels coming from around Route 10 and Geosenge Town. They've been getting slightly stronger since yesterday."

"And why is a Grass-type expert like you involved in this?" Ramos asked blandly.

"This isn't just a few Gym Leaders or Elite 4 members!! This concerns EVERYONE!!" Gardenia yelled.

"I'm listening!!" Ramos yelled back.

"Fine. Sinnoh wants to investigate that area's energy levels to see if there's any abnormal activity."

"If there was abnormal activity, shouldn't the Kalos satellite have picked it up by now?"

"Kalos's satellite focuses of weather patterns, not earth activity. That's Sinnoh's forte."

"So, each region's satellite focuses on something different?"

"Uh-huh. Kanto's, atmospheric changes, Johto's, air patterns and natural disasters, Hoenn's, ocean patterns, Sinnoh's, earth activity, Unova's, supernatural activity, and Kalos's, weather patterns."

"How do you know this?" Ramos asked.

"Read about it. Anyways, Sinnoh wants to investigate. Korrina sent a message to Maylenne, and Maylenne told us we needed to meet them in Geosenge in 5- now 4 days." Gardenia explained.

"That Korrina... It'd be better to meet in Cyllage. Cyllage is close enough for a base and far enough so nothing major will happen to it. Setting foot directly in Geosenge may be dangerous. Relay that to Erika and Cilan, will you?"

"Ditto. Anyways, bye!" Gardenia leaped onto the slide and ran out of the doors.

"So, what did you want, whippersnapper?" Ramos turned to me.

"Well... Grant told me that you might have something about Team Flare."

Ramos's gaze darkened.

"Yes. Lately, strange things have been spotted in the Lumiose Badlands. The wild Pokémon are getting restless. Also, people in strange red outfits have been spotted around the Power Plant. Tie that in with the sudden energy loss in Lumiose, and something's up."

"Hm. I'll go check that out. I'm headed to Lumiose City anyways. Thank you!" I headed for the elevator before Ramos said, "Hold on!"

He held out a box. I took it and opened it.

Inside lay a black bracelet with a rainbow stone with a symbol on it. Next to it was a necklace with another stone in it.

There was also 3 things wrapped carefully in brown paper. 2 were in the shape of a ball. The other one was smaller.

"Korrina told me to give this to you. This is a Keystone. That's for the trainer. The mega stone is for a Pokémon.

"Which one?"

"Your Absol. This mega stone is an Absolite... Or at least that's what Korrina said.

"And these?"

"You'll see."

I accepted the box, thanked Ramos, and headed out.

I headed to the Pokémon Center.

"Shadow, come on out!"

"Ab, sol!"

I hung the necklace around his neck.

"If we work hard, you'll be able to Mega Evolve!" I exclaimed.

"Umbreon!"

"Absol!" Dusk and Shadow high-pawed.

I returned Shadow, and headed for the reception counter.

I was waiting for them to finish the checkup when I remembered the 3 smaller packages inside the box.

I hurriedly opened the box and took out both paper-wrapped objects and tore away the paper.

2 were a PokéBalls.

"Hmm..." I murmured. I quickly read the note attached to one, and grinned.

The other was a sheet of metal shaped into 2 fists hitting each other. One was bronze.

"The Knuckle Badge!!" I exclaimed in shock.

I carefully snapped it into my case.

Maybe I couldn't battle, but at least they found me worthy of a badge.

"Agh!! Flame, Flame Charge!!" I yelled. Talonflame enveloped himself in fire and smashed into the wild Trapinch, knocking it out.

*Hah* *Hah* "There are so many wild Pokémon! What's going on!?" I panted, wiping my forehead. I returned Flame and trudged on.

Zzzzzzttt. Zzzzzzttt.

I ducked behind a rock as a red haired woman walked up to a metal doorway with a PokéGear.

"Hello? Yes, it's Aliana. I'm at the Power Plant... Mm hmm... Yeah? That's one less prisoner to worry about. Too bad Xerosic's got to hold on to the promise he made to that Ex-Hoenn Champion before he killed him. Well, gotta go." The red-haired woman flipped the cover on her Pokégear.

She slid a card into a slot by a door, and it opened. Then she disappeared into the stairwell, and the door closed behind her.

"Hmm. We're going to need one of those cards." I muttered.

Dusk looked up at me as I fingered my PokéBalls.

"Let's do this." I grinned.

"Umbreon."

♣♣♣

"That was... Relatively easy." I said, kicking the unconscious grunt on the ground. "Good job, Shadow."

I sneaked over to the door and slid the card in.

The door opened, and Dusk and I slipped down the staircase.

"Dusk, Flash!" I whispered. The ring on his forehead lit up.

"Good job." I patted him. "Now let's go!"
