Artemis POV
"She's not here." Bungad sakin ni Alex pagbaba ko ng kotse.
Napasimangot ako at dumiretso sa loob ng bahay niya ng palingon lingon. Sinundan naman niya ko. Pumunta naman samin si Frances na pababa palang ng hagdan nila.
"Hi Art." Bati sakin ni Frances at bumeso siya.
"Who are you looking for?" Tanong nito. Pero sa kislap ng mata niya ay alam na niya kung sino ang hinahanap ko.
"Jessica."
"I already told you. She's not here."
"What do you mean she's not here?" I asked Alex.
"I know you think she is but-"
"Alex naman nakita ko kayo sa news kanina lang.." Giit ko.
"Kakaalis niya lang kaninang umaga. Kahapon pa kami dumating diba? Hindi naman kaninang umaga." Sabi ni Frances. Damn. How could I forget that?
"Where is she staying now?" I asked.
"Hindi namin alam Art."
Looking at their faces ay alam ko na totoo ang sinasabi nila. Napabuntong hininga ako. Kinuha ko ang invitation.
"Give this to her. Please." Sabi ko.
"We will."
"I guess I'll be going then." I said.
"Art. Do you want her phone number?" Frances asked. She had this smirk on. As much as I want to. I don't think it's a good idea.
"No. Not yet."
"Sige. Ingat ka pauwi." Sabi ni Frances.
"Salamat."
Paglabas ng bahay nila ay parang guminhawa ako. I felt excited. Hinatid ako ni insan sa kotse.
"Art. Ngayong bumalik na siya what do you plan on doing?" She asked.
"I still want her and I'll do whatever it takes." I answered truthfully.
"What about Clementine?" Napahinto ako sa paglalakad.
"She knew my heart would still choose her. I'll still choose her."
"What if she won't choose you?" She countered. My lips pressed on a tight line.
"She'll have no choice but to choose me. I'm not letting her or my daughter go away this time. I need them."
"Right."
"Can you believe it I have a daughter?"
"Yes I can. Literal na photocopy mo ang bata." Napangiti ako.
"Can't wait to see them. Sana birthday ko na para makita ko na agad ang anak ko."
"If they come." I stuck my tongue out.
"I hate you."
"Don't worry they will. Now go home for now. May pakiramdam akong may kelangan ka kausapin." She gave me a stern look. I knew I had to talk to Clementine.
"I will."
"Have a safe drive home then."
"Bye and thanks Alex." Sabi ko and hug her goodbye before going inside my car. I sigh heavily as my heart pounded. Hindi ako mapakali.
I gave the invitation hoping she'll come. Hoping she'll bring our daughter with her. It's my birthday after all.
