"Boys, you are excused," says the ever regal Queen of DunBroch as the three little princes went off with cream puffs stuffed in their clothes.
"What... did I do now?" the princess, Merida, asks her Mum. They're only excused when they were discussing private & serious manners. It sounds kind of bad to her.
"Fergus," she gestures the Bear King, Fergus, to tell her. She turns to him, of course.
"Well... you see, Merida... uh..." he stammers. The Queen sighed, "Each of the clans are to present a suitor to ask for your hand in marriage. That includes the new clan," she continued on as Fergus lent out a frustrated growl.
"What!!??" Merida says in a complaining tone. "And the clans have accepted!" Elinor says excitedly. Merida growls in rejection of the idea, followed with her burying her face in her arms that were on the table.
"Merida," her mother's voice became stern. "I suppose a princess just does what she's told!!" she raises her head & her voice. "A princess does not raise her voice," Elinor scolds her.
She sighs to calm herself down, "Merida, this is what you've been preparing for your whole life," she tells her. "No!" Merida stands up in rage, "This is what you have been preparing me my whole life. I won't go through with it! You can't make me!!" Merida grabs her bow & walks out.

Merida rides on her horse, Angus through the woods. Little did she know that getting lost would be the best thing that has ever happened to her. "Angus," she whispers to her horse, "Are we lost?" she says in fear.
All of a sudden, she finds a trail of small blue floating flames. They were said to lead you where your fate is. They were the wisps. Merida finds it & follows it, believing that wherever it takes her is where her fate lies in.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The trail disappears & there was a small cottage made of wood & leaves. She goes to peak through a window. There, she spots a boy with a lanky figure, auburn hair & wearing green-&-brown colored clothing. He was in the dark, reading a big book with only a lamp as his light.
A little later, the boy must have noticed her, so he turns to look at the window & Merida quickly ducks.
She hears his footsteps closing in on the window. It creaks open & he looks out. "I know you're there. Come out," he says in a shaky & trying-to-be-brave voice. Merida slowly stands from under the window.
"... Hello," she says. "Who are you & what do you want...!?" he says in shock, holding out a small knife towards Merida. "Woah there, 'ya wee kid. I ain't doing anything to ye," said the redhead, pushihg the knife away.
The boy sighs. "I thought you came here to feed me to the bears," he said. "I can't do such a thing, lad," she said after a small chortle. "Oh yeah! Since ya live here, can ye tell me how to get back to the castle?" she had a sudden flash of wit.
"Uh... one sec," said the boy, going into the house again. After a few seconds, he comes back with a small map in his hands. "It says here that if you go north, you'll find my village. Let me see here..." he said, looking through the map. Merida tapped her foot in impatience.
Another set of seconds pass & he looks up from the map. "Over there. Straight in that direction," he said, pointing to the east.
"Thanks, lad!" Merida said, jumping on Angus. "I'm Merida, by the way. See you!" And she rides off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, there were no expectations, no lessons & no rules for Merida. She runs to the stables & jumps onto Angus. She rides out of the castle walls. Into the forest, she went, shooting targets that were all too familiar to her while riding on Angus. After shooting, she sits down for a while on the grass & begins an etching on her bow. She spots a hawk in the sky & gets on Angus, as if to follow the hawk. She rides on Angus & climbs on a rock. A high rock. She might slip a few times, but that never stopped this Princess. When she reaches the top, she drinks from the mighty Fire Falls. Only the greatest kings were brave enough to drink the fire, her father would say. She cheers after that. As happy as happy can be.

Merida & Angus were heading home. Upon arriving at the stables, Merida falls off Angus. "Angus!!" Merida yells. Angus neighs as if he was saying 'but it wasn't me' like a little girl.
Merida surveys the scene & finds Angus' saddle on the ground, broken. "So that's why..." says Merida. "Don't worry. I'll look for someone to fix this," she said, holding Angus' saddle.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Her search leads her to the forest. But all of a sudden, she hears something. Something that seemed to whisper... The small voice called out to Merida. She turns around in curiosity & finds... a wisp.
"Come," it seems to say again. Merida reaches out for it but it disappears as soon as she does. After, a long trail appears. She follows it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The wisps lead her to the same cottage of wood & leaves from last night. Merida peaks into the window again. This time, however, her view from the closed glass window was blocked by something she did not know what. She decides to look through a different window.
And there, she saw him working. He was making something that she didn't know what but she was sure it had iron involved.
After working, the boy looks through the papers on his desk. Merida immediately dashes to the front door & opens the tiny window on it. "Hey there!!" she calls out.
The boy had the same reaction as he did the night before; complete shock. "Woah!! What the--!!" he quickly jumps from his seat & attempts to hide all the notes scattered. Merida gives him a complaining look. "Can I have a word with ye?" she says. The boy sighs in relief & opens the door.
"Hi! It's me again, Merida," she said. "Oh yeah... From last night? Yeah, I remember you," he says, recalling the said event. "Can ya help me?" Merida switches from cheerful to worried.
"What is it?" he asked her. Before answering, Merida looks inside the cottage. There was a saddle sitting on one of the tables. "Is that...?" Merida points to the said item. "What?" he looks at where she's pointing & panicking, shuts the door behind him.
"It's nothing!" he says. "There was a saddle sitting on one of the tables!" Merida exclaims. "Can ya fix Angus' saddle? Please??" she pleaded, handing him the saddle. He takes it, of course, for it was shoved to his chest.
"Uh... sure. Maybe sometime in the future, though," he said, walking into his cottage. "Why?" Merida asked while following him. She closes the door behind her.
"Well, I have something else planned for the whole day," he says, placing the saddle on top of his compiled notes. "What is it?" she asks him, making her way to a chair. She hits a few pieces of metal & cloth that were scattered on the floor.
"Och! Look at this clutter...! When was the last time ye cleaned yer house??" Merida complains, evading the clutter. "That would be last night," he says, removing the apron he wore for work & hanged it near his desk. "Anyway, back on topic. What is it?" she asks, making herself comfy on the chair.
"Which is?" he turns to Merida, wearing a brown furry coat. "Your plans for the day," she says. "Oh, that. Sorry but that is private business," he says, getting a pencil & notebook. "What? Whaddya mean?" she said.
"I mean it's private," he repeated, emphasizing the word "private", "And since I'm heading out, do you mind leaving my house?" he said, walking to the door. Then, Merida had another quick flash of wit. "Take me with you, then," she said.
"No. Leave. Now," he says, opening the door. "Nope! Not until you take me with you," said Merida, crossing her arms & looking away from the door. "Fine," he groans. Merida jumps happily & races to the door.
"I'm Hiccup, by the way," says the boy, locking the door behind him.

Neko's A/N: YOLO, Neko over here! I'm sooo glad this is finally here. It came upon me & Star's argument about which fanfic we are to write. I wanted Jackunzel but she said that the mean Jelsa shippers might bash it & she puts up Mericcup. I said 'no' to Mericcup because no good plots come to mind so we decided to make one that has both! I hope you peeps like it! It was a joined effort.
