Luke's POV
I sat there in shock, staring at the beautiful but abused brunette sitting next to me, hugging her knees. She sighed uncomfortably so I looked away, before standing up and taking her suitcase again.
"I can't let him get to you," I say and Rebecca looks up at me, her eyes a shade darker than mine but it's perfect. Her brows furrow at first, but soon they droop and she sighs, shaking her head.
"I'm not going to your house," She says.
"Why not?" I ask, I know it's stupid but I couldn't help but let the words tumble from my lips.
"First of all, I just met you," Rebecca starts. "Second of all, it's too close to Brent's house," Fair point.
"Lets get a hotel then?" I suggest which surprisingly makes her laugh. What's so funny about that?
"You're expecting me to go to a hotel with a guy I just met?" She says. I think about it, it's a bit crazy and she probably assumes I'm just some desperate dirtbag, needy for a girl. But I'm not, I think I actually like her.
"No, just think about it though," I beg. She sighs but gives in, making me grin a mile wide. I place my hands on the handle of her suitcase.
"Where are we going?" Rebecca asks. I love how she said we. Man, I am pathetic!
"Your choice," I say. "Anywhere away from here."
"Okay, um... The mall," She says, smiling. "I have money, don't worry."
"Okay, we'll go to the mall," I chuckle and help her up. We walk down the sidewalk, slightly happier than before, until we reach the bus station again. I pull the last bus token out of my pocket, I'm glad Rebecca has some. We get into the bus that leads to the other part of the town, the part with more shops (mall included).
At some time around 3:45, we get to the mall, I am still carrying the suitcase for her, which is bothering her to death but I don't care, it could hurt her. She pulls her wallet out of the front pocket and holds it the rest of the way. We walk into several stores and end up in the food court, both of us holding greasy slices of pizza and cokes.
"Thanks," Rebecca says after a short moment of quietness despite the loud jazz music playing in the back ground and the people talking.
"For what?" I ask, genuinely curious.
"Just, you know. Being there," She says, a light blush meets her cheeks and I smirk.
"No problem," I smile. "Thanks for letting me carry your suitcase."
"You're welcome," The pretty girl in front of me laughs. I am just about finished my pizza, and when I finally do finish, I take a sip of my coke and wait for Rebecca to finish.
"Can I call you Becca?" I ask. "I like it."
"Sure," She shrugs and finishes her pizza, leaving the crust, still half way through her drink though. She sets it down on the table and doesn't drink anymore. Out of instinct, I reach across the table and take a drink of it, making Becca smile.
"If you're not drinking this then I am, Becca," I smile back, she nods so I take the drink but I take off the lid so I don't have to use the straw. We sit and talk about ourselves until 4:15, then we decide to go browse the shops again so we walk together.
We go to a store, it's made for teenage boys but Becca is still fascinated with the stuff inside, I'm guessing Brent never let her get out much. I hate Brent.
We go to one corner of the store and there are shelves upon shelves of beanies and hats, I pick out a few different ones. I see Becca bite her bottom lip, she told me that's what she does when she's either scared or she likes something. But I follow her gaze, it's the white beanie in my hand. I chuckle and pick one up for her too, making her blush but smirk, the most adorable thing in the history of ever.
