Becca's POV
I take a deep breath after I finish saying those many, many words. Luke is crying, honestly it makes me hate myself even more because I made him cry. I bite my lip and he grabs my hand.
"Don't say that," Luke says. "Nobody hates you. Nobody, baby, everyone here loves you so much. And that won't stop, either."
"But they do hate me."
"Why would you ever think that? Just because you're depressed doesn't mean everyone hates you, Bec. We don't hate you and we never will."
"Depressed? What am I depressed about?"
"According to Lily, your parents didn't care about you," he says quietly. "How come you never told me about that?"
"I don't know," I sigh, grabbing the water bottle off off the table and opening it up. I wince, because it was hard to open. I have more than 20 cuts in one of my arms, so what do you expect? Luke frowns at me, but he stays put. I take a drink and put it back on the table. "I didn't want you worried, I guess?"
"I wouldn't worry, I would tell you that I love you and question why such people could not care about you," Luke says.
The perfect song for right now is All About You by Birdy. Just so you know. Just listen to it so you know what I mean.
"But nobody-"
"Becca, I love you." I stay silent. "You don't love me, do you?" Luke asks, letting go of my hand. He places his head in his hands and sobs even more.
"No, Luke, I do love you," I say. He looks up but there is doubt in his eyes. "Forever and always."
All the doubt disappears from his expression and a small smile takes its place. I almost forget why I'm at the hospital, Luke's happiness is all I need right now. Well, I need Luke in general.
But I don't know if he needs me too, or if it's all.... I don't even want to know what this could be.
Luke stands up and opens the door to our room. Just as Calum walks in, he gets a text which apparently says he has to go.
"Well, see you Becca," He says. "You coming with?" He asks, pointing to Ash. He nods, I don't know what it is that they're doing but I'm just glad I can stay with Luke.
"So, when are you getting out of here?" Luke asks. I shrug, looking down at my bloodied wrists. Lily walks in, tears still in her eyes, but she smiles. She gets rid of my bandages and doesn't replace them, silently, and leaves the room.
"Do me a favor," I say quietly.
"Hmm?" Luke hums in response.
"Help me."
"What do you mean by help?"
"Well, I feel really insecure right now, and I know a guy who can change that," Luke smiles and nods, then he gets a soft grip on my hand and kisses it again.
"I always try to make sure you don't feel that way, I just have to ask: What did I do wrong?" His expression is serious now.
"Nothing, it wasn't you. But when I heard Pete crying nonstop, it made me feel like I couldn't do anything right, because I couldn't even ease down his cries," I explain. Luke frowns but nods. Just then, Dr. Klein walks in, holding a clipboard.
"You can go in a few days, 3 to be exact," He says, causing a smile to morph onto Luke's sad face. I smile too. "I have some pills and papers for you to sign."
