Luke's POV
I am sitting in my rental home in California, tears in my eyes as I stare down at the text message.
I love you too, Luke. More than ever <3 :')
I get that knowing that she loves me is a good thing, and that I shouldn't be crying, but God I miss her. I miss her so much. I was sobbing so hard that I couldn't go to work and sing.
The new studio was built right along the boardwalk by the Pacific Ocean Beach. I record on the fourth (out of 5 floors) floor with Heather and Danny. They both live on either side of me in different rental houses. Anyway, different people come in and listen to me as I sing, and I go visit other people as well. I noticed everyone here is tanned and/or blonde. So I guess I fit in a tad bit.
There is a knock at the small front door, so I stand up and stride over to it. I swing the door open and raise my brows at Heather.
"Hey. Are you ready to come work again? Danny told me you were finished writing a new song?" She asks suspiciously, a small smile spread across her face.
"Uh, yeah," I mumble, scratching the back of my neck. "Let's go then." I ignore her begs for me to tell her what it is called or any of the details, because she is annoying me and interrupted an emotional minute of mine. It's not that I hate her or anything but she was a whole lot nicer when we first met. Gosh, I'm a man on his period right now.
We walk in the sand and underneath a dozen palm trees, the sun patching the ground from in between the huge green leaves. The air smells crisp and sweet, which is good I suppose, but I am so used to the rainy Pennsylvania air that I abhor my surroundings.
Nothing against California btw y'all... I've always wanted to go there. No lie.
I push the glass doors open and wave at the receptionist, who greeted Heather and me after we went past her desk. We climb in the lift, and it takes forever to just simply start up.
I sit on the floor of the elevator, earning a weird look from Bec. "If I'm gonna stay in here for an eternity then I'd rather be sitting," I grumble, Kristen and Becca chuckle. "This thing is too slow."
Eventually we reach the second floor and go to our room, Calum is sitting outside the door and staring at his phone.
"Hey Cal," I say and hold a hand out to help him up. He smiles and takes the offer, and when he sees Becca, he waves. His eyes travel over to Kristen, who is biting her lip.
Calum's eyes go wide and he whispers to me, "What a fine Sheila right there," and points to Kristen slightly.
Yeah that was originally Becca's POV but I changed it because this is Luke's POV. [Chapter Seventeen]
Damn it. Those were the days. Where I stayed at Becca's side all day, where I introduced her to the boys, where she introduced Kris to us, where it all started. Man, I would swim all the seas just to be back there.
Now, I miss Calum, Kristen, Michael, Julie, Ashton and even Brooke as much as Becca.
"Luke, snap out of it!" Heather scolds, noticing that I zoned out for a while. I huff and step out of the elevator and cross over to the office Danny showed me previously. The walls are plain white, except they're covered in fancy grey fabrics that stick out like bulletin boards, which make the sound easier to hear and better quality, like any other recording studio has. There is a huge window on the wall beside the door, looking out onto the hectic city and the baby blue sky. In every corner sits a blue, modern vase of lilies. They remind me of that day I made Becca mad whilst she had her Bipolar Girl Problems and bought her some lilies. Or when she was at the hospital one day, I sent some lilies and a rose to her through her nurse Jessie. Anyway, the floor is thin white carpet and there is a bunch of quotes painted on the ceiling for some reason. A desk sits in the corner with a bunch of high technology items that you use to edit music or whatever. Then there is the room I am supposed to sit in and sing my heart out.
