Chapter 14: Battling On A Ship

With her 3rd gym badge in bag, Zia decides to take a bit of a break from her trip.

"This'll be fun, we can just have a few days of relaxation." Zia said as she and her Pokemon walked out of the poke-center. "Yeah, a day around town to do whatever does sound nice." Emmy commented as she looked around. Suddenly, she spotted the port where there was an abundance of ships. "Let's go down there!" She said as she began walking towards the port.

Zia and Sky looked at each other and shrugged, following behind the energetic Servine. Zia was still getting used to the sheer size of Sky, when she was a Shinx and Luxio she was able to carry her. Now as a Luxray, Sky could carry Zia instead.

When they made it to the port, they walked around admiring the design and size of the ships. "It would be incredibly nice to go on a cruise, wouldn't it?" Zia asked. Emmy and Sky both nodded in agreement, thinking about just relaxing in the sun.

"We don't have the money for it though." Sky dejected. All three sighed and slowly walked away from the luxurious ship. They were going to walk back into town when suddenly two girls? Walked up to them.

"Hey! You all look really cool!" Said the girl with the longer, orangish hair. "Coooool!" The girl with the shorter, yellow hair interjected. "Congratulations! You win a ticket to a cruise on the famous St. Anne!" They both said at the same time. Zia looked excited then she remembered. "Sorry, we don't have enough money to pay for it." She muttered. The orange haired girl then spoke up again. "You just don't get it! They are completely free, yes f-r-e-e! Cool right?" "Cooool!" The other girl said again.

Zia thought for a moment. "But why are you giving them away?" She asked. The orange haired teen, seemingly the spokesperson, explained. "Well we were going to go. But then we decided to go out with our totally awesome boyfriends. So we were looking for someone who seemed cool and we found you! So here you go!" "Cooool!" And she handed Zia the tickets and the two girls skipped away.

"That was... Interesting." Zia said to her Pokemon. They nodded and they figured they would go on the St. Anne cruise then. They walked around looking for the ship when they came across a humongous ship that said St. Anne on the side.

They walked up the flight of stairs to the deck of the ship and showed her ticket to a staff member at the top. They looked around the deck in admiration and went inside the venue. There were dozens of people inside, all conversing and eating snacks. There were Pokemon trainers and Pokemon merchandise in every corner. 

There were people with Charmanders, Oddish, Squirtle, everything you can think of. As they walked around, they heard a battle going on somewhere in the middle. Zia made her way over to see a man with a big rodent Pokemon.

Raticate: The Mouse Pokemon
Gnaws on anything with its tough fangs. It can even topple concrete buildings by gnawing on them.

And a kid with a star shaped Pokemon.

Starmie: The Mysterious Pokemon
Its central core glows with the seven colors of the rainbow. Some people value the core as a gem.

"Raticate, jump kick!" The older man called as his Raticate jumped up to get height into kicking the water/psychic type. The younger kid then made his move. "Starmie, spinning tackle!" The Starmie jumped up as well while spinning and stopped the jump kick from the opponent.

"Raticate, super fang." The older man continued. The normal type Pokemon ran to the Starmie and used its big fang to bite down on it, cracking its gem in the middle. It was enough to end the battle, with Starmie unable to battle. The older man tried to consulate the younger male and then a woman joined him.
