Chapter 42: It's Hatching! It's A...

As Zia and the rest stopped by a nearby Pokemon center, something unexpected happened.

Zia had shown her Nurse Joy her pokedex and the card written for her by Professor Oak saying that she is allowed to carry up to 15 Pokemon when it happened. "Are you Zia?" She asked to make sure. "Uh, yeah." She answered. "I have a message for you." Joy stated as she picked up the letter.

Zia tilted her head in confusion as she opened it. "Greetings, Zia. It's Professor Oak. Give me a call when you have the chance!" The electronic message said. "Who's Professor Oak?" KC asked. "He's a Pokemon Professor that lives and has his lab in my hometown, Pallet Town. He's also the one who gave me Emmy." Zia answered as she pet the Serperior on the head.

"I guess it has been a while since you've talked to him, Zia." Sky stated. "Yeah, you should give him a call." Emmy added. "Alright." She agreed, leading them all over to the calling machine off to the side. She typed in his phone number and waited for him to pick up.

Thankfully, it didn't take that long before he popped up on screen. "Hello, Professor Oak. It's Zia." She greeted. "Why hello, Zia. I'm glad my message finally got to you. Anyways, Sky and Emmy are sure looking well." The older man stated. Sky waved a paw at him as Emmy used one of her vines.

Then the Professor noticed an extra person and Pokemon. "And who are they?" He asked, gesturing to the two standing awkwardly behind Zia. "Oh, this is KC and Kirlia. They're traveling with me now." Zia introduced with a grin. "Nice to meet you two." Oak said with a kind smile.

"You too, Professor." KC returned. "Anyways, Zia, have you caught anything new?" Oak asked. "Yes. I actually caught a Primeape that I nicknamed Cad, but he's off training with a professional fighting-type trainer. I also released Gunnar, he found a girlfriend and decided to stay with her. Let's see, Dimitri evolved into Charmeleon, and then Charizard. Kai evolved into a Wartortle. Athena evolved into a Ninetails. Then I caught an Electabuzz, named her Ciana. Then a Rapidash I nicknamed Flair. And then Emmy obviously evolved as well. I then found an egg I'm now taking care of. I also collected two more badges." Zia rambled out.

"Uh, just put your pokedex into that little slot down there and it'll give me all the information you've gathered." Oak said, honestly having caught none of that. Zia just smiled and nodded, doing as told. When it was done, she took it out and put it back.

"Ok, now get out there, get more Pokemon, and get more badges, my dear!" Oak cheered on. After ending the call, they all went to a nearby diner. They got a booth, ordered some drinks, and pulled out a map to see where they should go next.

"Well, I haven't found any leads for Kirlia yet, so it's up to you." KC stated. "We could head to Cinnabar Island and the Cinnabar Gym." Sky said as she pointed it out. Zia thought about it as she cleaned the Pokemon egg. "When do you think it's going to hatch, by the way?" Emmy asked her.

"I'm not sure, it's hard to tell until it begins to crack." Zia answered. "What Pokemon will it be?" Kirlia asked, curious. "I'm not sure. KC, do you know?" Zia asked him. "No, I'm not really up to date on Pokemon eggs. Sorry." He replied.

"So it could be anything." Zia muttered as she gazed at it. "Well, it's no big deal. Just adds to its mystery." She added. After they were done, they paid for their drinks and left the diner, KC had the map in his grasp as Zia held onto Kirlia, the egg in her knapsack. "So how far to Cinnabar Island?" Zia asked.

"Hmm. It looks pretty far." KC stated. Suddenly, two people dressed like old-fashioned maids came up to them and danced, kicking their legs up really high. "...What?" Zia asked, behind confusion. The two people each had a basket as well.

"We kick up our legs so you will buy our eggs!" They both said and held the baskets out. Each filled with that seemed to be Pokemon eggs. "What kind of eggs are they?" KC asked. "Wait and find out when they hatch." One said. "Please buy our eggs, please, please, please." The other pleaded.
