Today was the day Zia and Ash would learn where and who they would be battling for the first round of the competition, as well are everyone else in the League.
They all traveled to the building where they sign you in as they went up to one of the workers. "Welcome to Pokemon Village. I need your identification so I can check you in, please." The woman said politely. Brock suddenly pushed Ash out of the way. "Ash can check in while I check out your beautiful smile. I could check that out all day." He told her.
"Is Brock always like that?" Zia asked Misty who was shaking in anger. "Yes, he does it to any pretty girl he sees, or any at all really." She mumbled. "He didn't do it to me. Maybe it's because I'm younger than him. Or I'm just not his type. I could just not be pretty." Zia muttered as she tilted her head. Misty walked over and pushed Brock away. "It's check out time for you, Brock." She told him as Ash chuckled awkwardly.
"I'm glad you aren't like that." Zia sighed, talking to KC. "Though, I do have to deal with your stupidity." She added. "Come on! Are you still mad about the hot spring? I'm sorry, it wasn't my fault! Blame Blaine!" KC pleaded as Zia stared sharply at him. "You could've looked away! But no, you just stood there and stared!" She yelled at him.
Misty, Brock, and Ash all watched the two go at it. "I wonder what happened between them that involved a hot spring." Ash wondered. "I have an idea." Misty sighed. "I do too." Brock nodded. "Of course you do, Brock." Misty said as she shook her head.
Zia finally had enough and smacked KC over the head. "Shut it! I'm done with it for now, Ash and I still have to sign in." She mumbled as she walked over with Ash. The ravenette went first as he handed the woman his pokedex.
"Hm. Is this your first time at the Pokemon League?" She asked as she checked his identification. "Yes." He answered as she put the pokedex into a machine as she typed on a keyboard. When she was done, she pulled it out, handing it back to Ash. "Well, that's it. You're all checked in." She stated.
"Thank you. Uh, miss, who am I battling at the Indigo Stadium?" Ash asked her. "Hold it, Ash. You don't start out in the Indigo Stadium." Brock interrupted. "What do you mean, Brock?" He asked him. "At the Indigo Plateau Conference of Pokemon League, they use four different battlefields. Rock, grass, water, and ice. You have to win your matches on all four battlefields before you can battle in the Indigo Stadium." Brock explained.
Zia also saved that information for later, not having known that either. Maybe she was a bit clueless as Gary always tells her. Though, she would never admit it. "What battlefield do I have to battle on first, then?" Ash asked the woman.
"All you have to do is press this button. Wherever the light stops is where your first match is. Good luck, Ash." She answered as the light went around the four pictures representing the battlefields. A leaf for grass, a raindrop for water, rocks for rock, and a snowflake for ice. Ash pressed the button to stop it as it landed on the raindrop, or water.
"The water field it is. Now the system will select your opponent." The woman said as she typed something into her keyboard. On the screen popped up Ash and someone with long green hair in a pink jacket, with a white shirt underneath. "His name's Mandi. You're the third match. Be there by 1:00. And good luck." The woman explained.
"Now my turn!" Zia cheered as she pushed Ash aside, giving the woman her Xtransceiver. "You have one of these? You're lucky we recently updated our machines." The woman said as she opened a separate slot as put the watch-like device into it. After scanning it, she gave it back to the white haired girl.
"Now, press the button when you'd like." She said as she pressed it, making the light spin around. Zia waited for a couple seconds before hitting it, stopping it. It slowed down and landed on the leaf, or grass.
