Chapter 23: Celadon City

As Zia and the rest head into Celadon, they observe all the huge buildings.

"I've never been in a city like this before." Zia muttered as she walked alongside Emmy and Sky. The two nodded as they sniffed the air. "Do you smell something?" The young trainer asked them.

"Yeah, it smells really good." Emmy said, Sky agreeing with the statement. Without another word, the two Pokemon walked towards the source. Zia shrugged and followed them, not wanting to lose them in the crowded streets.

A short while later, they made it to what seemed like a shop. Zia looked inside the window to see it was a perfume store. She crinkled her nose as she realized. She wasn't one for fragrance products. She was about to turn and leave when she noticed both her Pokemon walked inside.

Zia grumbled under her breath and walked inside begrudgingly. Some female store clerks were practically fawning over the Servine and Luxray. "Your fur is so smooth!" The blonde one said to Sky. "And you've got such a pretty blue coloring!" The green haired one said to Emmy.

As Zia made her way towards them, she tried to block out all the smells attacking her nose. "Guys, why'd you just run in here?" Zia says to them. Both her Pokemon and the three workers turn to her. "Are these your Pokemon?" The third one, a purple haired girl asks.

Zia nods in confirmation as she stands beside the Luxray and shiny Servine. "They are so gorgeous, but where are they from?" The green haired girl questions. Zia smiles as she answers. "This is a Luxray, but I call her Sky. Luxray are usually found in the Sinnoh Region and they are electric types." She explains pointing to Sky.

"And this is a Servine, a shiny one actually. And her name is Emmy. The pre-evolved form of a Servine, a Snivy, are starters in the Unova Region and they are grass types." Zia continues, turning to Emmy. The three stared at the Pokemon in awe as they listened.

"You've got some very special Pokemon young girl." A new voice says. They all turn to see a woman in a pretty traditional kimono with a headdress on. "Thank you, I'm very lucky to have them." Zia says, smiling. The woman smiles back as she walks forward. "Manager." One of the other girls mutters.

"My name is Erika, have you come here to buy some perfume?" The manager asks. "My names Zia and no, my Pokemon must've liked the smell here though. They came in here on their own, I was just following. I'm actually here to battle the gym in this city." Zia explains as Erika nods.

"What are your thoughts on perfume then?" She asks the white haired girl. Zia furrows her eyebrows in confusion but answers anyways. "I wouldn't particularly wear it myself but I have nothing against it, or other people who wear it. Why?" Zia asks at the end. Erika chuckles to herself along with the other female workers.

"Well, the Celadon Gym makes all the perfume in this store. And actually, I'm the gym leader." She reveals as Zia's eyes widen. "I didn't realize, it's nice to meet you." Zia says politely. Erika says likewise as well.

"Let me change and we can have that gym battle alright?" The manager/gym leader says. Zia nods and waits for a bit. When Erika was done, they closed up for the day and headed to the gym. It was a pretty unique building that was circular and had four giant petals on the top.

They all head inside as Erika heads towards a plant like Pokemon that has the same petals as the roof of the building. Zia tilts her head as she scans it.

Gloom: The Weed Pokemon
Releases a foul fragrance from the pistil of its flower. When faced with danger, the stench worsens.

However, contrary to the information, there was no foul smell. "Erika?" Zia says, garnering the woman's attention. "Why isn't Gloom producing the stench it's known for right now? It's smells fine to me." Zia asks as she walks closer to them. Erika smiles happily as she explains. "Gloom uses that bad smell as a defense mechanism when it's in danger. Though, when it feels safe, it smells completely fine."
