It's Cold in July

I can't keep setting fires to keep you warm,

You're taking too much love out of me and I just don't think I can keep up with your storm,

I don't even think we even had a real connection formed,

Your charm came out of the blue and suddenly I was swarmed,

I wish I saw some sort of sign, telling me to be warned,

To watch out for your smile because it was the key to having my heart torn,

To watch out for your roses because it was littered with thorns,

You didn't even give me a chance to grieve, to have my heart mourned,

At least now I have this lesson, even though it was hard to learn,

This started out so easy, I don't even remember where things took a turn,

I kinda wish I knew when because our honeymoon phase is something I yearn,

But at least now baby if you want me back then you gotta fight for my love because it isn't given, its earned.
