Chapter 20

Luke's POV

I kissed her.

I finally kissed her.

And she kissed me back.

I finally kissed the girl I want.

"I, uh, I'm sorry Luke" Monica said standing up, "What? Why are you sorry?" I asked, "I can't do this, not now, I can't do this, I'm not ready" she said walking towards my car quickly, I ran after her, "Monica, wait" I said, "Im sorry Luke, I can't" she said sitting in the car, waiting for me to drop her home.

Well that wasn't what I expected to happen.

Monica's POV

I couldn't do this.

I just kissed my best friend.

And I felt something.

Something I didn't feel when I kissed Ashton.

I felt a spark.

"Can we talk about this?" Luke asked, "Im not ready for anything Luke, I can't, not right now" I said, "I get it" he mumbled before stopping the car, "I'll see you tomorrow" I said before walking to my house and going to my room.

I collapsed on my bed.

I just kissed Luke.

My best friend.

We kissed.

What do I do now?

I didn't like Luke that way, did I?

Of course not.

He's my best friend.

Then why did I feel sparks when we kissed?

Why didn't I feel anything with Ashton, yet I felt something with Luke.

Maybe I do like Luke in that way.

I'm not ready for another relationship though.

Not for a while anyway.

"Monica honey, dinner is out" my mum yelled, "Coming" I yelled before walking downstairs to the dining room where my mum and dad sat, "Hi" I said smiling as I began eating, occasionally making conversation with my mum or dad.

"I'm gonna go in a shower and do homework then have an early night, night guys, love you both" I said walking up to the bathroom where I went in a shower, came out, blow dried my hair then done any homework I had to do.

Tomorrow was a big day honestly.

I was gonna forgive Ashton, just to move on in life.

And I have to face Luke.

"Damn alarm" I grumbled switching it off and getting up, going to the bathroom and doing my usual morning routine.

I skipped calling Luke and moaning at him, instead I texted him.

To Luke: move ur ass or we'll be late

He didn't reply but I guess he read it as I saw him wait at his car for me when I left the house, I smiled at Luke and he half smiled back as we got into the car.

"I'm gonna forgive Ashton, but I'm never gonna speak to him again" I said, "Good idea" Luke said, "Luke what's wrong with you? Is it because of that kiss thing? Because I'm sorry that I don't want any sort of relationship right now, I'm sorry" I said, "We're late for school" was all Luke said as we got out the car, "I don't care, I have history anyway" I said, "I thought you liked history?" Luke asked, "I do, but I have to sit next to Ashton, remember" I said, "Oh yeah, see ya at lunch" he said before walking to whatever he had.

I walked into history and sat down, "Miss Taylor, why are you late?" Mr Dali asked, "Traffic was bad" I said, "You don't even drive" Ashton pointed out, earning a glare from me, "I get driven to school, i still have to go through traffic, idiot" I stated, "Enough! Don't let it happen again" the teacher said, "I can't exactly control the traffic" I grumbled, earning a chuckled from Ashton and Calum.

"Monica I'm really --" I cut Ashton off, "I get it Ashton, you're sorry. Don't worry I've moved on from it, it's fine" I stated, "I realised what you meant about Meghan, she's a bitch" he said, "She cheated on me" he added, "Now you know how it feels" I said, "Except for me it was worse" I added, "How come?" he asked, "Because I really did like you and I wasn't using you" I stated, copying down the notes we were asked to copy.

"Look, I know you probably hate me, but can we at least be friends? I realised I was a total dick, to you and to Luke, and to girls, I have changed, think about how good friends we could be" Ashton pleaded, I sighed, I couldn't deny him about how good friends we could be, we did have a lot in common.

"I don't know Ashton. Its a bit too soon, don't you think?" I asked, "Just think about it, oh and tell Luke I'm sorry for being a dick" he said, "Fine i'll think about it. Im not promising anything and okay" I stated.

"So he asked you to be friends again and he apologised to me?" Luke asked, "Yeah and yeah" I said, "I don't know whether to accept his friendship request" I said giggling as I put air quotation marks around 'friendship request'.

"Well I forgive him 'cause it takes a real man to apologise to another man, especially in this case" Luke said, "You're no man Luke, you still order kids meals at McDonald's" I said giggling again, "I do not! I stopped that like last year Monica!" Luke yelled laughing, causing me to laugh even louder.

"Am I interrupting something?" a voice boomed from behind us, we turned around and there stood Ashton.
