Tis a quiet interlude
to water garden flowers.
Bright sun peeks over treetops;
dark shadows light devours.
As I sit on covered deck
enamored with dawn's hour.
Breeze ripples through green branches
an early morning 'hello.'
Birds hustle for brown peanuts
as I watch their hopping flow.
Melodic note of bird songs
prolong early morning glow.
Then I hear soft buzzing wings
of a waking bumblebee.
Rapid staccato tapping,
woodpecker strikes hollow tree.
Nature's drummer's booming beats
sends heart and soul soaring free.
