School is starting
And I will miss
A brown-haired boy's
Good morning kiss
Small arms that hug
Around my waist
A special gift
Bestowed in haste
Scrambled eggs
A cup of fruit
A glass of milk
With smiles so cute
Then come worksheets
We both despise
When work is done
"Hurrah!" he cries
We play some games
A movie lunch
Then play some more
Until tires crunch
Another hug
Another kiss
And home he goes
For evening's bliss
School is starting
