he finally sees you again, but it's just a dream.
as he tosses and turns in his hammock, in the safety of the safe haven, his mind is elsewhere— roaming the streets in the untouched city where the WCKD building stood in front of him.
a figure passed his vision and he turned around to catch a glimpse of a girl running through one of the buildings.
he took off running towards the building, his eyes darting around everywhere.
when he finally reached the building, he sees you standing at the other end.
"y/n?" his voice sounds different, wavering slightly.
you turned around at the sound of his voice, his breath hitches slightly.
he walks towards you, every step feeling like he's getting further away from you, "y/n, is that really you?"
finally he's stood in front of you, "hi, tommy."
his lips quiver, "i thought i'd never see you again."
"this is just a dream, thomas." you say softly.
"i know... but just seeing you, seeing your face... i miss you." he said, his dark-brown eyes softening as he took in all of your features.
"i miss you too, more than you could know." you sighed.
his eyes glistened with tears, you couldn't bare to see him that way so you wrapped your arms around him. despite the fact that it was a dream your touch felt so real, he hugged you tightly as he nuzzled his head into your hair.
from that night on, every day he looked forward to going to sleep just to see you in his dreams.
