~ Your POV ~
I wake up in the hospital, having no idea how I got there or why I'm there other than the immense pain in my side. I try to sit up, but pain shoots through me and I fall back against the bed. A nurse walks in, looking surprised that I am awake.
"Oh, y/n, you're awake," she says with a soft voice. "I'm Shannon, your nurse."
"What happened?" I ask her.
"You really don't know? You must've hit your head, although you have no concussion, so don't worry about that. But your friends said there was a home invasion and you got stabbed," she says. "Do you happen to remember what the guy looked like?"
I shake my head.
"It's okay, y/n. I'm just gonna check your vitals and then I will let your friends in to see you," she says.
After Shannon checks my vitals, which damn does it hurt to have my blood pressure taken, she leaves. Moments later, in comes Vinny and Evan. Both look worried and relieved at the same time.
"Are you okay?" Vinny asks the second he's in the room.
"Yeah, just hurting a lot," I say.
"I'm so sorry, I should've been there to help you," Evan says.
"It's okay, Ev," I say. "Jeff just went off the deep end."
"Yeah, we got you something," Vinny says, as way of cheering me up I bet. He hands me a small silver box.
"Please tell me it's not a weapon," I say, glancing at Ev.
"Nope, just open it," he says.
I open it and there sits the most beautiful silver cross I've ever seen in my life. Vinny leans over and helps me put it on, and I beam at them.
"Thank you so much," I say.
Vinny and Evan smile.
"It'll protect you," Vinny says softly.
"Thank you guys. But I have a question."
"We don't know where he is," Evan answers before I can ask. "He was ripped from your body with the Severance rune."
"But we have bigger problems," Evan says quietly. "The cops will be poking around. I mean, you got stabbed."
"So what do we do? None of the houses are ... normal anymore," I say. "We need him back."
"We need you better again," Vinny says.
"Please just get me out of here. Then Evan can do the "Statue of Liberty playing football" again and we can get Habit back."
Evan laughs.
"I think we can take you home tomorrow," Vinny says. "It was just a matter of getting you awake."
"Well, I'm awake, so let's go home."
The doctor comes in then, a slim man with graying hair and eyes like storm clouds.
"Hello, y/n, how are you feeling?"
"Like I wanna go home," I answer.
He chuckles. "Well, we want to keep you under observation for a night and then tomorrow you can go home."
"Yay."
"Alright, well, I'll let you three talk in private. Just press the red button on your remote to call for help." He leaves.
"Ooh, can I press buttons?" Evan asks, a mischievous smile on his face.
I roll my eyes. Boys.
