Elaine woke up next to Jacqueline, who was fast asleep.

She knew Jacqueline's house very well, when they were young they used to have sleepovers all the time.

Actually, Saturday was sleepover night. One week at Jacqueline's house and one week at Elaine's house. Sometimes Don came too, but he never slept over at Jacqueline's house, because her parents still, to this day they don't like him that much.

But Elaine knew, that Jacqueline and Don had something special, to this day. Something she and Jacqueline may never have.

Later on, they met Tim. And they made this happy little group they had now.

Elaine opened the door and walked in the kitchen wearing some of Jacqueline's clothes and  her socks.

She poured herself a glass of water and drank it fast. She would make breakfast, but she thought that Jacqueline's parents,  would be exhausted after their date night yesterday, so she didn't want to make any noise.

She went back to  Jacque's room and saw her waking up. "Good morning." she said.

"Good morning."

"I have to get my staff and get going." El announced.

"Wait, don't you wanna stay for breakfast?"

"I'll eat at home," Elaine wanted to leave right now "my dad is returning today and I want to go clean the house a little bit before he comes."

"Do you want me to come with you?" Jacqueline offered.

"No it's fine, see you at school alright?"

Elaine started walking as fast as she could to get to her house.

She needed to go to school today because she was missing a lot of school days lately.

The time was 6.38 and she had plenty of time to clean the house and get ready for school. The truth was she didn't know if her dad was coming or not. But she didn't want to take any risks.

Elaine walked and walked until she finally got home. She opened the door with her keys and started cleaning the mess that was there since Friday.

Her prom dress on the sofa and her heels one on the one side of the room and one on the other and everything else being just messy.

The kitchen table was full of dirty dishes and glasses along with some napkins.

She took everything and threw it in the dish washer.

Next up was her bedroom. She opened the door and saw the chaos.

She put the prom dress in the closet and her heels too. After that she made the bed and her pillows and then her desk after picking up and putting in place everything that was laying on the floor.

She took her phone and searched through her contacts. No, she wasn't just going to erase Douglas' number, or something cliché like that. (Although I support #StopClicheShaming)

She took her phone and called Tim. After a few moments he picked up "Elaine?" he said in a sleepy voice.

"Good morning Tim, were you sleeping?" Elaine asked and checked  the time. It was 7.59, he couldn't be sleeping.

"No, I'm just tired." he answered.

"Can you come and pick me up for school?" she needed to get over the fact that she -even for some hours- believed that her friend could have been a drugdealer.

"Sure, i'll be there in 15, don't be late." he said and hang up to go get ready.

Elaine closed her phone added some books and notebooks in her school bag, then picked an outfit for the day. A pair of jeans and a cute band-tee with her vans.

The door bell rang a few minutes later and she ran to the door, seeing Tim.

"Hey Tim."

"Hey, how are you feeling?" he said as they started walking to school.

"I'm fine. I'll get over it." she sighed "You were right. Douglas was not the guy for me."

Tim found that weird, Elaine almost never admitted her mistakes. "At least he was no murderer." he joked.

Not exactly.. Elaine thought.

"Yeah." she whispered awkwardly.

After some minutes of awkward silence they arrived at school.

They saw Jacqueline and Don making out while sitting on their usual bench. Tim cleared his throat to make their presence noticeable and they immediately stopped kissing.

"Umh, good morning guys." Jacqueline said awkwardly.

It was weird seeing them kiss after so many years in the friendzone. But she knew she was going to get used to it.

After that, the bell rang and they all walked to their class.

Elaine returned home exhausted. She was feeling like that since first class.

She hadn't forgotten about Douglas. But she was acting like it.

Her cell phone rang and without seeing who was it she picked it up thinking it was Jacqueline or Tim. "Hello?"

"I'm surprised you even answered." a voice said, a voice she knew very well.

"Douglas." she stated coldly. "What do you want?"

"I-I just thought that after talking to Jack-" Douglas hesitated, he liked playing vulnerable to women. Women loved that, and he knew it. But Elaine was something else. An another thing he also knew was that Tim liked her. He knew it and he hated him for it.

"Well I want to hear it from you."

"What do you mean?"

"Tell me you're not doing drugs."

"I'm not." he said almost immediately, and it was the truth.

"Then why are you doing this?" she said, her voice ready to break.

"Can we meet?" he offered. "I will explain everything."

Elaine hesitated, but she loved this man, she loved everything about him and she needed to know what was going on in his life. "Fine."
