Jacqueline woke up by the alarm clock she had set the previous night. It was 6.15.
She shook Elaine, only to find out that she was already up, by the alarm probably. "Elaine?"
"Jacqueline?" she said kind of shocked "What happened last night?"
"You tell me." Jacqueline stated calmly. "You were drunk, and you were asking for me. And you were with Douglas."
Suddenly, all the events from last night flooded into Elaine's brain. "Yeah, we are back together." she said "I think."
"You told me something last night." It was time for Jacqueline to find out too.
"What did I say?" Elaine had a bad feeling that she had said something she shouldn't have.
"What is Douglas doing for a living?" she tried to seem like nothing had happened. She didn't have much time.
"What do you mean?"
"What is his job?"
"I-" Elaine couldn't think fast enough to answer something that Jacqueline would believe.
She had to tell her the truth.
"Elaine," she said calmly "what have you gotten yourself into?"
"I- At first I didn't even know." she tried to explain.
"It was the prom night, right?" Jacqueline guessed. "Is he really a drugdealer?"
Elaine didn't answer, she couldn't.
"Answer me Elaine." she snapped.
"He is. I'm so sorry." Elaine burst into tears "I know. I should have told you."
Jacqueline checked the time. It was 6.38 she was already late. The time seemed to pass quickly.
"It's okay El." she said while wearing her shoes. "We will talk about this later. But now I need to leave before my mum finds out that the car is missing."
Elaine didn't answer and Jacqueline left quickly. When she arrived home she walked in and saw her mum and dad waiting for her. "Jacqueline Lawson, tell me where you have been all night right now." her mother, Carol, said.
"Mum, listen I was with Elaine because she wasn't feeling very well and she asked me to go over. But you guys were sleeping so I didn't tell you." she covered it up with a lie.
"And you were driving my car? With no license?" Carol Lawson was usually not getting angry with small things, but now she was furious.
"I'm sorry mum." Jacqueline started thinking of another lie "I had to take the car, I was too scared to walk there."
"Jacqueline, are you out of your mind?" her dad, Charles, got in the way "You're not an adult yet! You can't just do whatever you want!"
"Charles, calm down." Carol tried to control the situation. "Jacqueline, you have to understand that even in a situation like this one, you can't just vanish into thin air. You have to tell us. Wake us up the next time, okay?"
"I'm sorry mum, I will."

Tim woke up feeling weird that morning. He was feeling weird about the whole thing about Elaine. Something about Douglas and her breaking up and her just thinking about it all the time and missing school about it, it didn't sound like something Elaine would do.
He knew Elaine for years and he had never seen her this upset.
It all seemed kind of odd.
He woke up at around 5.30 and he went to the kitchen to make some breakfast for his mum, who was probably getting ready for work.
"Good morning, Tim." Tim's mum, Amber, said.
"Good morning, mum."
"Why so early?" she asked.
"I don't know, I couldn't sleep." he said "Want me to make you some breakfast?"
"I'm sorry, Timmy. I need to leave early today, how about some other time?"
"Okay, mum. See you." he kissed his mum's cheek and she left the house.
Tim's mum was always working and he barely even saw her. Tim was always a mama boy, he loved his mum so much, mostly because his dad was and still is very troubled.
Tim heard something from outside the front door of his house, something like a bump or a thud.
He looked through the window a saw man. Not just any man, his dad.
Tim quickly opened the door. "Dad?" he asked "Why aren't you home?"
He already knew the answer though.
"Timmy?" his dad, Curtis, said "How are you son?" he continued while trying to get himself up from the ground.
"Here, let me help you." Tim sighed and helped his dad get up and inside the house.
He smelled like cigarettes and alcohol. Tim was used to his dad coming drunk like this in the mornings. He was doing this since Tim was 13 years old, and it was a pretty traumatic experience, having your dad coming and waking you up in the middle of the night.
Tim got his dad in his bedroom. He took his shoes and jacket off and covered him with a blanket.
Curtis, was fast asleep. He was ready to leave when he saw two packs of cigarettes in the pocket of his jacket. He quickly took them and left the room. One of them was half-empty and the other one was brand new.
He went to his room and hid the new package in one of his drawers and threw away the other one. He didn't like his father smoking so much.
He actually hated his whole lifestyle, and he knew he was probably going to die soon.
Tim had promised to himself that if he ever became a father, he would want his kids to grow up in a healthy environment and he would be an average father. He made a promise to protect and love his children at any cost.
Tim would be an amazing father, he could be an amazing father.
