What was Elaine thinking when she got back with Douglas?
Nothing, her supposed love for him was absolutely blind so she was believing every word he was saying, even the things that weren't true. She thought she was so madly in love with him that she wasn't even thinking, and Douglas was ready to take advantage of that.
Was what he was planning to do bad? It appears so.
Did he care? No. Unfortunately for Elaine.
It was a week after Jacqueline learnt the truth and she was really trying to believe that Douglas just needed the money. That he wasn't further involved.
Jacqueline really hoped he wasn't.
Elaine was spending every day after school and until late at night with Douglas, they were getting super close and it seemed like they were in a pretty happy and healthy relationship.
And just like every other day, that day they were together again.
"Douglas!" Elaine shouted with pleasure. "Come on, I'm almost done."
"Me too, baby." Douglas said without stopping going in and out of her. Their shaky breaths filled the room and it was the only thing that could be heard.
They both came undone at the same time and Douglas fell to the bed next to Elaine hugging her.
"That was great, El." he said and kissed the back of her neck.
"I love you." she said and turned around to face him and planted a sweet kiss on his lips.
"I love you too." Douglas said and smiled.
They stayed like this for a couple of minutes and after that Elaine fell asleep.
Douglas told her he loved her. But did he really? He didn't even know himself. He wanted only to take advantage of her right? He didn't care if she loved him or not, she just loved those three empty words coming out of his mouth. The mouth she was loving with all her heart.
But why? Why would Elaine die to hear these words, coming out of someone's mouth, directed to her? Because she was never loved.
Losing her mum, destroyed everything, since she was twelve years old her dad, stopped caring and he stopped giving her his attention. The one she so much wanted.
Since she was twelve years old, the love was absent from her life, and she really enjoyed having it back.

"Jacqueline!" Carol yelled from the kitchen "Dinner's ready!"
"I'm coming!" Jacqueline said, leaving her homework unfinished and walking to the kitchen.
After eating their food quickly Jacqueline and Nathan went to his room. "So when are you going to tell them?" he said excited.
"Tell them what?" Jacqueline asked confused.
"About you and Don." he said and if he could walk he would, for sure, be jumping all around the room by now.
But he couldn't jump. He couldn't even walk.
"How did you even find out?" she asked, apart from the advice for the prom she hadn't said something about them being together.
"I was sitting near the window one day and I saw him giving you a ride home and you kissed." he said excited.
He was the very first Docqueline shipper after all. He was so happy about his little sister growing up and finding a boy he actually approves.
"Ugh, I don't want to tell them." she said. "You know they don't like him." she sighed.
"You shouldn't be keeping this a secret." he said.
"I don't like it either." she said and sighed again.
"You don't like what?" Carol said and entered the room.
"Mum!" Nathan said excited "Jacqueline has something to tell you."
Jacqueline shot him an I hate you glare and turned to her mother awkwardly.
"Look mum," she started "I want to tell you something, I know you probably won't like."
"I'm on drugs." she said quickly and her mother freaked out dropping her phone from her hands.
"What did you just say?" she said.
"I'm kidding," she laughed "I'm just dating Don." she said thinking her mum will not mention it after the surprise with the drugs.
"Oh, for a minute I thought you were a-" she couldn't finish her sentence because realization flooded through her "You're dating the Evans boy?"
"He has a name." Jacqueline stated "And if you don't like him, you'll have to deal with it because I really love him." she said and surprised everyone even herself.
"Can you believe this?" she said to her son.
"I totally approve." Nathan said.
His mother looked at him in disbelief. "We are not done with this, we need to make a conversation soon." she said "With your father."

Elaine woke up with Douglas hands still wrapped around her. She felt safe like this. She felt she belonged somewhere.
"Hello there, sleepyhead." Douglas told her.
"Hey." she said.
"I was thinking." he started "I have some spare syringes and I wanted, you know, to know how it feels."
"What are you saying?"
"Do you want to try it, with me?" he asked.
"I don't know, Douglas." she said "These things are dangerous. I mean it's heroin. So many people die from it."
"Not if you just do it once." he tried to convince her.
"I guess, one time won't do anything right?"
"That's what I'm trying to say here." he smiled.
The plan was perfect. Elaine was even willing to take drugs with him. To do heroin. That meant she would do anything for him. It was time for part B of Douglas' plan.
