"So let me get this straight." Elaine said "You were never curious to see what you were delivering?"

"I didn't care, I really needed the money." Douglas answered pouring himself some more whiskey.

Jack remained silent, one more time, sipping his whiskey, not saying anything.

"And that Mr. Sanders guy, is dead?" she asked again. "Did you-"

Well, you know what they say, curiosity killed the cat.

"Does it matter, Elaine?" Douglas snapped.

Elaine took a step back. Lately Douglas was so different, it felt like he was using her.

And he was.

"Sorry I-"

"Shut up, El." Douglas said.

"Do you want to hear my story?" Jack spoke.

It was about time. He talked just the time Douglas was about to ruin everything.

Elaine and Douglas both looked at him. Elaine then looked back at Douglas.

"Go on then, tell her." he said.

"I was in a similar situation." Jack started.

Elaine sat on the couch and focused on Jack, taking in his characteristics one more time.

"My mother was-" it seemed like it was difficult for him to talk about this.

"It's okay if you don't want to talk about this." Elaine told him.

"No, I should probably say all these to someone."

"You mean no one knows?" Elaine asked and looked at Douglas.

"I don't know the whole story, we never talk about stuff like that." Douglas said and looked at his friend.

"Well my mum was drinking, like a lot." he started again.  "My father died when we were very young and I don't quite remember him."

"We?" Elaine asked and looked at Douglas who also seemed kind of surprised.

"I am a twin." Jack said.

"There's an another Jack?" Douglas asked.

"Not a Jack, a Lillian." Jack explained. "One boy and one girl."

"Aw that's cute." Elaine said. "Where is she now?"

"I-I don't really know."

"What do you mean you don't know?" Douglas asked.

"When we were 18 and we were still in school, Lillian and I were really close." Jack explained. "We shared everything with each other and we did a lot of things together. One day Lillian met this guy and we met him to see if I approved. The guy seemed really nice, his name was Bob and he was a really handsome guy, so if my sister liked him, I kind of had to like him too."

"Long story short, the Bob guy's name turned out to be Bob Sanders and he was Mr. Sanders' son. At first he was only using Lilli because she knew she had a brother with a weird past she could take advantage of, but then he claimed that he loved her. He said that he was sorry, that his father made him do a bunch of stuff he didn't want to do."

"And then, one day Mr. Sanders and Bob kidnapped Lillian." Jack was in the verge of crying, he seemed so vulnerable and Elaine felt bad for him.

"They got her and they were sending me notes and photos of her being-" he stopped to take a deep breath. "Well they told me to do their dirty work, I was dealing drugs and messages to people for a month and then they told me that If I wanted my sister I had to keep this up forever, and I could also get payed."

"Of course I needed my sister back, I couldn't talk to the police because they'd kill her, but I could just do some dirty work until something happens and I can get out unnoticed. When they brought her to me, they said that if I ever stepped out they would find her and kill her."

"When we went home, I helped Lilli take a shower and she slept in her bed for once. Her whole body had scratches and bruises. She wasn't beaten up, I knew it, but she was not very well treated. Sometimes Bob was raping her and she was depressed. When she woke up the next morning she was blaming me for everything, when it was all her fault in the first place for trusting Bob Sanders, I tried to calm her down, I tried telling her that it was no ones fault we got dragged in all that shit, but she didn't want to listen."

"So she left, telling me she will come back and talk to me when she's ready."

"And?" Douglas asked curious.

"She never came back."

"I'm so sorry Jack." Elaine said and hugged him. "Don't you have her number, or her Instagram?" she asked.

"No, I have nothing." Jack answered "But I'm not looking for her, she said she'll come back when she's ready and I respect that, she's coming back, after all these years I still believe she will come back for me."

"She will, I know she will." El tried to comfort him.

Douglas seemed kind of serious. "What are you thinking about?" Elaine asked him.

"About two stuff actually, at the begging of the night I was thinking that you two were going to go to the police, but know that I know what Jack has been through I'm getting more sure by the minute."

"What do you mean?" Elaine asked. "We can't-"

"I have to make sure everything stays as it is." Douglas mumbled.

He grabbed Jack and put a cloth on his face, covering his nose and mouth and after a minute or two Jack fainted.

Elaine was looking at Douglas terrified, it must be the whiskey he was drinking all night. This couldn't be any good.

Elaine started slowly taking steps back not taking her eyes from Douglas.

Jack was on the floor unconscious.

Douglas looked at Elaine and started getting close to her. "I- Douglas, please." Elaine whispered.

She knew what Douglas was able to do and that was making her even more scared.

"We can- I won't talk to the pol-"

"Shut up Elaine." Douglas shouted.

Elaine's back hit the wall and she had nowhere else to go. Douglas arrived in front of her two minutes later and he grabbed both her hands trapping them against the wall.

And then when Elaine thought that he was going to hit her, he did something unexpected.

He kissed her. She was trying to pull back but he wasn't letting her go.

That was not right, Elaine didn't want this.
