Another day when Jacqueline woke up and went to school, and when the school ended she looked for Elaine.

She saw her standing near the school's front door waiting for her precious Douglas.

She quickly walked over to her. She needed answers.

"What is Douglas giving you?" she told her when she was next to her.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

Note: question cancel out questions.

"Don't play dumb with me. Are you doing drugs with him?" Jacqueline asked one more time.

"You don't know what you're talking about."

"Am I interrupting something?" Douglas came out of nowhere, and hugged Elaine from behind.

Elaine smiled "No nothing, Jacqueline was just leaving." she said after and looked Jacqueline.

Jacqueline turned around the corner of the street and hid there for a while.

She was about to follow Elaine and Douglas.

She had to know where Douglas was taking her, just in case she needed to do something more drastic.

She saw them kissing for a while and then they left from the school.

They started walking and walking and walking and Jacqueline was getting more tired by the second.

The time was now 16.30 and Jacqueline started having this feeling that she was forgetting something.

She had to do something today, but what?

Well you know what they say, when you can't remember something, it probably isn't something important.

They say that right?

She continued following them which wasn't that hard since the streets where full of people.

They finally stopped at a restaurant, it was not far away from the city but it was pretty far from Elaine's house.

They walked inside and ordered.

Jacqueline couldn't wait anymore so she started walking back to her home.

She was kind of disappointed because she didn't manage to find anything really helpful.

On her way home she still had this voice un her head telling her she was forgetting something, but she waved it off and in around 17.34 she was at home.

She opened the door with her keys and walked in silently, from the living room voices could be heard.

Jacqueline walked there and saw her parents, her aunt and two of her cousins along with their grandmother all gathered around Nathan who was sitting in front of a cake.

A birthday cake.

That's what Jacqueline was forgetting. That day Nathan was turning 20 years old.

"Happy birthday to you-" they all sang together and they seemed so happy together.

But Jacqueline could not fit in to their happiness right now.

It was the worst time ever.

"Happy birthday to you-" they continued singing happily.

Jacqueline was getting crazy, she had forgot her brother's birthday.

"Happy birthday, Nathan-"

"Happy birthday, to you." they finished the song and Nathan blew the candles that were decorating the birthday cake.

Jacqueline's family clapped and smiled while they were snapping pictures of Nathan in front of his birthday cake, like he was a little kid and not an adult.

Like he didn't almost die once.

They were doing it again. They were acting like this cute, little, happy family.

Jacqueline always hated that.

But she was never going to say a single thing about it. Ever.

"Happy birthday, Nathan!" Jacqueline said and faked a smile as best as she could.

All of them turned around and looked at Jacqueline. "Jacqueline." Carol, her mother said. "Where were you? You missed Nathan's birthday."

"I'm sorry." she tried to think of a lie really quick "I totally forgot and went to the library after school with Elaine." she covered it up.

Carol was ready to say something, but Nathan was faster "That's okay Jacqueline." he said.

"Come sit with us, darling." her grandma said. "We were about to eat."

"Great, I'm starving." she played along to the happy family thing or whatever.

They all sat down and Carol with aunt Betty brought food.

They started eating and they were all talking. "Jacqueline," aunt Betty said "I heard that you are seeing someone." she smiled.

Jacqueline laughed awkwardly. "Yeah, actually I-" she started saying.

"I hope he's a good guy."

"Is he handsome?"

"Is he treating you well?"

Questions started falling like rain on Jacqueline.

"Jacqueline is actually dating a great guy." Nathan interrupted. "I know him and he's nice and handsome."

They all smiled and said that since Nathan liked him he must be a very nice guy.

After some hours they all left and Carol and Charles went to sleep.

Jacqueline was left to do the dishes and she was almost done. "Where were you?" Nathan asked.

"Nathan, why aren't you asleep? You need something?"

"Where were you?" he asked again.

"I already told you," Jacqueline said "I was at the library with Elaine."

"You also said, that you forgot my birthday." he said.

"Yeah, I'm so-"

"You're a liar!"

"Look, Nathan." Jacqueline had to think of something right now "I'm really sorry, but I really forgot your birthday, I know it's not like me, but it is the truth."

"No, it isn't." he insisted "Something is up, and I'm going to find out what it is sooner or later."
