Chapter Twelve

Chapter 12

When we meet Lily at McDonalds she already ordered her food and found a table. We wave to her and then run to stand in line to order food.

"I'll order first" I say.

"Alright, but you're not paying, I am" he replies.

"Louis, you've spent almost the whole summer with with me in England, had me stay longer in England, and your parents went through a lot for food, transportation, and more. I'm paying for us."

"Fine, then let me pay for this" he says.

I look back at him in confusion until he gets something from his pocket and holds it in his hands. A bracelet.

"I got one for you and one for me, we made a lot of memories this summer and although we can't go back to them, this bracelet will remind us. Each summer we go to England together, we get a new bracelet for all those memories. Okay?" He says through a smile.

From the corner of my eye I can see Lily smiling and awing. "Thanks" is all

I can say before the ratty cashier screams, "what do you want to order" in our ears. I order a salad and a milkshake and Louis orders chicken nuggets and a milkshake. It ends up being like $15 and Louis has a fit for me paying. We stand to the side and wait for our number to be called.

"So the bracelet..." He reminds me.

He grabs my right wrist and ties the bracelet. I do the same for him and we just admire the bracelet. It's a red, white, and blue bracelet with our names sewed onto them with the year 2014.

"Number 34!" Is yelled throughout the restaurant and I walk up and grab the food. Louis grabs his bag and walks towards Lily. As I am about to sit next to Lily, Louis fake coughs and looks at me. So I sit next to him.

"So how was England?!" Lily asks.

"Oh it was great. The day we saw each other for the first time in England Louis showed me Big Ben and we got to go in it. It was really fun. Then we went to a pier and just watched the clouds." I reply, leaving out the 'I like you' part we both say to each other.

Louis ends up telling her the rest while I eat my salad. My phone starts ringing and it's my mom. I walk out the building and answer it.

"Hey Mom! I'm eating lunch with Louis and Lily so I'll call you when I'm leaving to head home."

Usually just telling a mom your safe is good enough but no, she made me tell her all about the trip on the phone.

"Mom my food is going to get cold, I gotta go!" I lie and hang up. I walk in and there is like no one here. Was I on the phone that long? Louis and Lily weren't at the table. Instead I spot them on a bench outside in the park. Thanks for telling me? I start walking towards them. They were talking about someone...me?

"Lily...does Sam like me?" I hear him ask.

"Are you kidding? Your all she talks about!"

"Really? Because I know she didn't tell you this but when we were at Big Ben and the pier... We kinda admitted to liking each other."

"You should ask her out!"

"I want to, but I'm afraid..."

"Afraid of what?" She asks.

"Well if we break up I don't want that to ruin our friendship."

"Louis, just tell her that. She will completely understand! You guys are perfect for each other. You heard about the dance tomorrow?"

"What dance?"

"Well it's for eighth grade only. To start of the last year in middle school. You should totally ask Sam!"

"I should! I'll ask her tonight!"
