I pulled the string of sparkling dark blue tensile from a box. I handed them off to Bill who took them to Stan who was balancing on a ladder

Bill: th-thanks for the help again g-guys

Eddie: no problem, I love decorating

I pulled the golden string lights behind me as I climbed another ladder. Richie held it still as I climbed.

Homecoming was this weekend. One of derrys most important dances, signaling the end of the football season.

Bill is in charge of decorations, being apart of the school board and all. The theme this year is 'starry night'. Kinda basic if you ask me. The windows are tinted black, making the gym dark and the only light coming from the fairy lights I'm currently hanging up.

Dark blue and silver decorations hung up everywhere, along with gold stars strung from the ceiling. In the center of the room, was a golden moon hanging above a fountain.

If there's anything Derry high is serious about, it's football, and dances.

I climbed down from the ladder and was met by Richie. I smiled up at him

Richie: so...

Eddie: so what?

Richie: what are we doing tomorrow

Eddie: what do you mean? The dance is tomorrow?

Richie: well duh, but we're not going to that bullshit

I crossed my arms and frowned at him

Eddie: what do you mean we're "not going"?

Richie: why would we go to a lame dance?

Eddie: like hell we're not going!
Your taking me to the dance!

Richie: I didn't even ask you to go!

Eddie: you better get to it before your single.

I walked off, heading towards bill for more instructions.

Eddie: so who are you going with Bill?

Bill: no o-one,

He glanced at Stan and frowned

Stan: me either

Stan stared down at me directly

Bill: what about r-rich?
