Ashton and I quickly left the giggling girls back in the mess hall and I'm glad that we did. I really didn't want them taunting me about Ashton because I didn't want to get my hopes up for something that might now even work out.

He actually held my hand to pull me out of the large crowd of teenagers.

I noticed that he still didn't break our intwined fingers even though we were far away from where we ate dinner.

"So, where are you taking me now, Ashton?" I asked looking up. I noticed our height difference. He wasn't the tallest guy I've seen but compared to me, he was pretty high up.

"The lake looks beautiful at night according the the pictures of the website on this place. It's starting to get dark and I thought we could go there?" He asked looking down on me.

"Sounds great." I smiled and continued walking. Our hands still haven't lost each other yet.

We arrived at the dock and walked to the end in a peaceful silence. Not awkward at all.

"You were right..it's beautiful." I smiled looking out into the sky. "I've always had a thing for sunsets." I trailed on.

"I've seen other far more beautiful things." Ashton said peering at me from the side flashing me that cheeky grin hinting that he was talking about me.

"Stoppp." I said pushing his shoulder.

"I'm not kidding. You're so beautiful, Emma and I don't know..there's just so many extraordinary things about you and I barley know you." Ashton said not taking his eyes off of me.

Ashton and I talked more and more.

Every minute that passed by felt better and like we knew each other since we were in diapers.

It was about 8:30 when we decided to get up and go out. The sun was down and there really was nothing to look at anymore.

As we walked up the hill, we noticed a bright light coming from across the field.

A camp fire.

I was surprised as we got closer to see there were only about 7 people there. Ashton and I joined the group.

"I'm determined to get you to be social. It's my summer time destiny." He whispered. His hot breath tickling my ear. Not that I'm complaining.

We joined in and they wanted us to introduce ourselves. We did and we were invited into their game of truth or dare.

After a few stupid makeout dares were thrown out between horny teenage guys and carefree girls, another boy joined in beside me.

We looked at each other at the same time.

"Holy shit, hey Emma!"

"Luke?" I said squinting my eyes.

"The one and only." He said pulling me into an awkward sitting down hug.

"I didn't know you were coming!" I said smiling.

Luke had been my best friend since grade 2 when he enrolled to my school.

We even dated once or twice in 7th and 8th grade but agreed we'd be better off as friends. As high school came, we kinda drifted and found our own groups. We were friendly and texted every so often so I'm glad I'd know someone on a personal level here.

I introduced Ashton to Luke.

He didn't exactly look too happy.
