My mind was set on Ashton still. All I've been hearing for the past twenty minutes were "It'll be okay, Emma." or "He's just in a jealousy mood." I just nod at everything.
I felt bad for Luke.
He was my best friend in the entire universe and now I couldn't even spend a minute with him without Ashton going ape shit all over his ass?
Not fair.
But, I think I'm being a hypocrite. You see, if I ever found out Ashton had an ex-girlfriend/best friend at this camp and they wanted to have private chats or text each other, I'd lose my shit too.
Maybe taking another break from Luke wouldn't be too bad. I have more than one friend and he sorta just distanced himself from me until it felt like our friendship was non-existent.
All of a sudden, my friends and I came to a stop.
I was analyzing the ground while thoughts flowed through my brain not realizing we had made it to the boys section of campgrounds.
We were spilt up so shit didn't happen and safety.
We had stopped in front of Ashton, Calum and Michael's cabin. I've only ever been inside once and it stunk of boy smells and you couldn't even walk without stepping on a piece of clothing.
Calum and Michael sat in front of Ashton just talking about stuff and Ashton had his back turned to us.
"I just..I don't know man. I get so jealous so easily and I th-think that's what drove my ex to cheat on me or some shit. I don't know." Ashton said pulling his knees to his chest.
Hayley took her two fingers pointing to Michael and Calum and signalling them to come. They knew we were here.
"That can't be the reason, mate. Nobody should ever cheat on anyone for any reason. We'll get you something to cheer you up. Did you want some chips or something?" Michael said putting his arm on Ashton's shoulder standing up.
"I've lost my appetite. Maybe just a water, thanks." Ashton said waving them off.
"Have a talk." Laura said whispering to me.
"You got this. Don't worry." Hayley said joining Michael and Calum walking to the food stand.
They gave me a small smile and a quick thumbs up and they were gone.
The stairs Ashton were on didn't have railings and he was still completely unaware of my presence.
I walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around his torso.
He tensed up until he slightly turned his head to realize it was only me.
"I'm sorry baby." He whispered to me turning completely and hugging me properly.
"I'm sorry too. I whispered snuggling into the crook of his neck.
He let go and lead my up the stairs. I was about to sit next to his but he pulled me into his lap and tightened his grip on me.
"I just- I don't know. I shouldn't have let one of your best friends get me so jealous. It was really stupid of me and I'm sorry I interrupted your conversation." He trailed on resting his chin my my shoulder.
"It's okay. I understand. I guess it wasn't appropriate to ditch you the morning after you asked me out to talk to my ex/best friend. It was a dick move on my part and I should know better." I said pressing a kiss to his forehead making his lips curve into a small smile.
We sat there in silence for a while just holding each other and enjoying each other's company.
"I just care about you so much. You're mine and not Luke's. I wanted you to know that. Mine." He said holding me closer.
I loved that word. It was my new favourite. Mine.
"And you're mine." I said whispering. "But wait. How come you don't care that I hangout with Cal and Michael." I questioned looking at him.
"Oh, well I know what they do because I'm always with them. They would never try and hit on you because they already know my feelings towards you and they know I would beat the shit out of them if they tried anything." He said with a smirk.
"You shouldn't feel intimidated by Luke." I frowned.
"Luke makes me feel insecure." He sighed. "He's just an overall attractive guy. I can admit when guys are attractive looking. Not being gay of course but you know what I mean. I'm not the tallest guy around but, oh. There's Luke with his 6 foot something-ness. I have messy flops of curls and there's Luke with his perfectly styled blonde quiff. My eyes are a dull shade of hazel while his are these shimmery blue shades of sky. I'm nothing if I stand next to him. I don't know what you see in me." He said looking to the floor.
"Hey, don't say that." I said resting my hand under his chin and tilting his head up.
"I see an amazing person. One who is funny and smart and sweet as sugar. You're the definition of beauty and just because Luke has some physical features you crave doesn't make you any less perfect to me. I love everything about you. Your floppy hair makes my heart race, your height still towers mine and your eyes make me weak in the knees. You're so handsome and you don't even realize the effect it has on me."
He smiled and kissed my cheek.
"Every inch of you is wonderful." I started off.
"Even your abnormally large man hands." I said taking his hand in mine and intwining our fingers.
"Thank you, baby. You know just what to say. I'm sorry again and I'll try for it not to happen but, I make no promises." He said picking up my hand in his and pressing a small kiss to my knuckles.
"Looks like we missed more." A chuckle came from behind us to see our friends smiling holding more Doritos and water bottles.
