On one side of the smaller table, was Luke with his small plate of assorted fruits and sesame seed bagel with peanut butter.
I never really understood that combination. He has been eating it since I've known him. Every sleepover that was his only request.
He also had a seat saved for me. A plain bagel with Nutella and some strawberries on the side.
"You remembered." I smiled at him placing he bacon down on the plate.
"How could I forget? We were best friends not too long ago." He smirked picking of a piece of his watermelon and shoving it in his mouth.
"So." He started off. "I'm really sorry for being a dick to your friend Ashton."
"Oh Luke, Ashton's not my fr-"
"And, I should've remember your old boyfriend who broke up with you called you that nickname and I shouldn't have." He interrupted.
"Oh..yeah. It's okay really. Just an honest mistake." I said giving him a small smile taking a bite of my bagel.
We sat in silence for a while before I spoke up.
"So..are you seeing anyone?" I questioned. I wanted to prove to Ashton that he was taken by someone else and that my intentions were to only be friends.
But, that single phrase couldn't have been a worse choice of words.
Luke's eyes opened wide and the colour in his face started to fade as he watched intently behind me.
All of I sudden, my wrist was grabbed and I was pulled up by Ashton making my strawberry fall to the ground.
"Hi, yeah. I need to take you right now, Em." Ashton said harshly.
"Excuse me, Ashton. She prefers the name Emma and we were trying to talk for just maybe an hour. Not even." Luke said standing trying to grab my other wrist.
"Yeah, and I prefer the term, girlfriend as in I'm her boyfriend as in fuck off and don't speak to her." Ashton said started to pull me out of the mess hall not bother with our breakfast or trays
Once we were outside, Ashton let go of me and crossed his arms across his chest.
"So..are you seeing anybody." He mocked me in a female tone.
"Ash..Ashton that's not what I meant at all." I stuttered.
"Oh, for fucks sake. What else is it suppose to mean besides, 'I'll just dump my loser boyfriend and maybe we can hookup.'" He said tilting his head looking even more pissed off then ever.
"It means, I was trying to see if he was dating anyone so you would get off my ass about me wanting to be with him." I said yelling. "Is there so much lack of trust here that I can't even be friends with anyone of the opposite gender?" I asked.
"No, I trust you completely. It's that blonde headed bastard I don't trust for shit." He said running his fingers through his hair.
"Well, it sure as hell doesn't seem that way." I said turning away from him.
God this was such a fucking mess. We literally just started to date and we sound like a divorced couple.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?" Ashton said as I walked away.
"As far away from anyone named Ashton Irwin as possible." I said a few meters away.
"Babe- baby please come back. I need to talk to you. Please?" He said trailing off his words.
"Nah, I think I'm too busy hooking up with guys to speak to you right now. Come speak to me when your asshole act is over because I'm sick of the show." Were my final words before walking off to our favourite place at camp.

The creaking of the wooden boards meant someone was coming closer to me. God damn. Can't I just sit at the lake and have some fucking peace.
I secretly wished it to be Ashton because I felt really guilty for saying that to him.
"Emma?" I turned around to see Laura and Hayley with small smiles and my bagel wrapped in a napkin.
"Hayley ate your bacon but, we have the rest of your breakfast." Laura whispered kneeling beside me.
"It's okay, I've kinda lost my appetite." I said giving a small fake laugh just for the sake of.
Hayley pulled the bagel from Laura's hand and threw it into the lake.
"We figured you'd be here." Hayley started off.
"Oh and how did you know that?" I questioned.
"Ashton told us you might be here. It's where you guys spend most of your time." Laura finished.
"Yeah well. I'm not so sure anymore." I said looking down at my reflection again. I didn't feel beautiful anymore.
I felt ugly. Ashton's happiness and kind words drove my insecurities and made me care free but, his anger made all of them rush back.
He probably is just finding excuses because he realizes I'm an awful girlfriend.
"Emma, you can't give up a relationship after one fight. I've seen couples break up and trust me, you and Ashton are perfect for each other. You can't just break up. He was trying to protect you. His feelings just fired his anger." Hayley said leaning her head on my shoulder.
"It's not the end, babe. Only the beginning." Laura sighed putting her head on my other shoulder.
I wrapped my arms around both of them and smiled.
"I love you guys."
