Olivia's POV:"I have cancer."
"What? Please tell me this is a joke." Lexi whispers.
"I wish it was Lex, but it isn't."
"My sister has cancer." she whispers with tears in her eyes.
"Mellissa wants to rest so I came out to give her some privacy." James says as he closes the door.
"Lexi? What's wrong? Mrs Blake is alright, why are you crying?" He asks taking her face in his hands.
She looks at me for asking permission if she could tell James and I nod.
"Olivia has .." she bursts into tears and hugs James.
"What?" James asks confused.
"I have cancer." I say.
"Is this another prank that you guys are playing on me?" James asks.
"I wish it was James, I wish it was." I sigh.
"Why didn't you tell me Liv?" Lexi asks still in tears.
"I wanted to but I didn't want to make you any more worried." I try to smile but it comes out as a grimace instead.
"Oh Liv." she comes forward and hugs me.
"I think I'm gonna go now…yeah." James says awkwardly.
"So when did you find out?"
"That's when.." Lexi stutters.
"Yes Lexi, when Elizabeth passed." I say sadly.
⏪⏪Flashback⏪⏪
"Grandma, Grandma!! Did you make cookies for us? Little Lexi questions.
"Of course my dear." she says bringing out a freshly baked batch of cookies from the oven.
"Thank you! You're the best Grandma ever!"
"Anything for you my loves." She smiles a contagious smile.
"Thank you Grandma Beth!" Little Liv and I chorus.
"These are so yummy!" I say in delight.
"Would you both like some milk with the cookies?"
"Yes please!" We chorus in unison again.
"Here you are."
We much on the cookies and chug on our milk.
We look at each other and laugh seeing the milk mustaches above our lips.
"Oh you two!" Grandma Beth laughs.
⏩⏩Flashback over⏩⏩
"That's why I didn't want to tell you Lex, because I knew you were still not over her death." I tell her.
Lexi just continues crying and hugging me.
"Hey I'm not dying alright." I try to joke.
"Of course you're not Liv! Now stop saying stuff like that alright."
"Still mad?" I ask her.
"What do think?" She detaches herself from me and raises an eyebrow.
"I'm guessing no?" I say.
She continues to raise one eyebrow at me.
"Alright alright how about we go and get ice cream from your favorite ice cream parlor? My treat." I suggest.
"Okay fine, but this is not over," she says and starts walking towards the elevator.
I chuckle.
"Aren't you coming? I don't want to keep my ice cream waiting."
And that ladies and gentlemen is my best friend.
⏩⏩Time skip⏩⏩
"This is the best ice cream parlor! I mean you could get me an ice cream from across the world and I'd still say this is better!" Lexi exclaims.
See I told you she's pretty serious when it comes to her food.
"Wouldn't it melt till it reaches you, from the other side of the world?" I question.
"You know what I mean!" She says childishly and sticks her tongue out.
I chuckle.
My phone buzzes which causes me to pick it up.
Hey, it's William. I was wondering if we could work on the project at your house this evening? 6 pm?
I reply with a quick sure before texting him my address and turning towards Lexi.
"Who was that?"
"William."
"Oh you mean the soul staring dude?" She says jokingly.
"C'mon Lexi, who knows maybe he's a good guy." I shrug.
"Sure but can you explain the soul staring?" She laughs and teases.
"Maybe he spaced out?" I suggest.
All I get as a response is her laugh.
"Alright so what's going on between you and James?" I ask smugly.
That causes her to stop laughing.
Ah look how the tables have turned.
"Nothing." she says rather too quickly and continues eating, avoiding looking into my eyes.
"I can tell when you're lying Lex." I chuckle.
"It's nothing, plus I don't even think he likes me like that." she shrugs and continues avoiding my eyes.
"Looks like someone is crushing." I laugh and tease her.
"Who's crushing?" I hear someone say from behind me.
