Chapter 11- Hold Your Flaming Horses

"Care to explain why you were eavesdropping?!" The man with burning red eyes roared and fear instantly took over me. "Who is she?!" He roared at angry raccoon. "She's the girl, boss. Chill." He said casually plopping down on a couch. He stared at me mockingly.

"What I would like to know is how she was able to open the door. Care to explain, Lucifer?" He suddenly said to the man in front of me. "HOLD YOUR FLAMING HORSES. LUCIFER?!" I shrieked and ran to the farthest corner in the room. "You're kidding me, right?" I said as I stared at both of them.

Suddenly 'Lucifer' started transforming into something else and the outcome of his transformation made me shit my pants. His skin turned a red shade, his eyes widened and he had a tongue that of a lizard's. The devil stood before me. That's when I screamed the loudest I could manage. "Please don't kill me!" I muttered.

Now I believe him. He actually is a demon. The strongest fallen angel out there was now before me, drowning in fury, might I add. I began shaking with fear and fell to the floor. I felt my lungs tightening, like there were hands on my neck, choking me. The ground started shaking as if an earthquake had taken place. "Lucifer! Stop it!" Angry raccoon shouted as he stood up.

I was suddenly released and my breath was ragged. He chocked me from a distance? What even?! I fell into fits of coughing. "I almost forgot her life was linked to mine." I heard him mutter and go back to the office chair. "My life is what?" I said as I regained control of my breathing. "Erebus! Sit down and next time do not disrespect me while you speak." He ordered.

So his name is Erebus... I read about him! He was one of the fallen angels who accompanied Lucifer... He is the second most powerful fallen after Lucifer. "You. Sit there." He ordered and I quickly sat at the chair he pointed at. "

"You're 5 years too early. I didn't think I'd have to see your miserable face just yet." He told me and I couldn't help but feel hurt. "As you know. I'm the big bad Lucifer." He began. "I am a fallen, strongest angel out there yada yada yada. But I just happen to have made an awful mistake a couple of thousand years ago that I regret miserably." He continued and glared into my soul. Erebus stared at his boots, losing interest in the conversation. Idiot.

"You regret challenging God?!" I said in disbelief. "Of course not. I still believe I should run heaven, hell and everything in between. But you see, long ago, before I fell, I was in love with an angel, totally regret it now. Although she was one sexy ass angel, she was the most powerful of all females. Back then I was boring old pure me. So we fell in love and one day I aided god with a very important mission... He blessed me with a child, more like cursed, thinking about it now. And that child is you." He explained and I felt tears prick my eyes. "You're my father?" I whispered unable to fathom his words. His explanation was brief, and had a lot of question marks all around it, there's more to the story.

"You've got to be FUCKING KIDDING ME!" Erebus jumped from his seat and threw the nearest vase to the floor, letting it shatter into pieces, just like my heart did. I just sat there stunned as Lucifer did some weird spell thing to glue Erebus to the chair and shut him up.

I couldn't utter a single word. The letter said he would come for me... It made me feel as if he cared. HE'S LUCIFER FOR FUCK'S SAKE. CARES? Millions of thoughts raced through my mind as Lucifer coughed, bringing me back to the current situation.

"There are details to the story you do not know and I do not wish you to know. The moment I decided you are ready, I shall tell you but until then you shall remain in the dark. Thana, I hereby strip Erebus from his title of heir to hell and bestow it upon you." He said as a malicious and sickening smile passed his lips.

A tear escaped my eyes and I quickly wiped it away. I composed myself and stood up. "Thank you, father. But I will have to decline the offer. Send me away from wherever the hell this place is." I spat out. Erebus's eyes were gleaming with fire, he was thrashing around and judging by the look of his face, he wanted to kill me. "And calm your rabid dog while you're at it." I sneered and turned on my heels. Before I could take a step, Lucifer froze me into place. "You shall not go ANYWHERE! It was not an offer, you are my rightful heir and as to what this place is, it is your mew home. The in-between is a dimension made entirely for hell's headquarters, it feels and looks the same as earth but the danger that lurks here is fatal. This land contains demons, hell-hounds, reapers and lost souls." He explained.

"I will not become the monster you are. Erebus seems to be fit for the job, give him the title!" I argued. "Erebus is no match for my little scale tipper." He walked over to me and put a hair strand behind my ear. He vigorously held my chin with his hands. "I have great plans for you, daughter. You are the key to all." He laughed appallingly. "Let go of my chin." I ordered. "Ah, my personality is deeply buried within you. After all, you have hellfire in your soul. It brews with evil and darkness. Know your limits with me, wretched creature" He hissed. "Nothing here is more wretched than you are." I spat.

"Go back to your room at once!" He ordered and left my chin. "Gladly, your highness." I replied and bowed mockingly. He growled at me and I left the room.

As soon as I found my room. I collapsed on the floor and sobbed. I am the devil's child. The source of all evil. I walked to the window and stared at the world before me.

A blinding red as you stare at the night. A melancholy color that is the symbol of blood and pain, yet some see it as the color of love.
It may resemble nothing of the sorts... It could, however, resemble a new start. Where the things we used to know are presented in a different light, presented in a different shade...
Though it may present you with things you wish not to see, they show you nothing but truths.
For the light never lies, it simply gives you a certain shade of what is there.

And what's in store for me is beyond horrid. My bones whisper repeatedly of the abhorrent future that awaits me. I am heir to the throne of Lucifer. I was determined to find out more about my story. I was determined to uncover the little holes of truths Lucifer had thought he had gotten rid of. It's time to tie up the loose ends that Lucifer didn't know existed, for I am Lucifer's daughter.
