Chapter 45- A Traitor's Tale II

Night settled over the castle and Lexus decided he would become King of the Daemons tonight. He knew his mission would fail miserably if he did not have an ally— a strong one.

Alas, fate aligned with Lexus' desires because he knew he could count on his best friend, the Prince of the Lost Souls— Jacoby Tenebris. His grandfather was King of the Lost Souls and would do anything to appease his successor. Afterall, Jacoby's father's death had crippled the old man. It was only a matter of time until he handed the throne to Jacoby and left for hell.

Lexus had spent his afternoon with Jacoby after him and his father's altercation of harsh words. Thana's eyes watched as Lexus planned his father's death. How could he? She so angrily thought. She wanted so desperately to stop him.

Lexus conversed with Jacoby and the King. The Lost Soul King has always hated King Oran; hewas the root cause of all the troubles he faced.

"I shall need 10,000 men. With so many military shortages in our Kingdom, my father is weak. And father has been troubled regarding an uproar for a while. The people despise him. Hunger and poverty plague Hollowhorn." Lexus explained.

"I will need 2,000 men within the castle grounds. 500 men will invade the houses of the nobles loyal to my father and the rest will spread across the Kingdom." Lexus added. His plan was impressive, but it had one flaw and the King was quick to point it out.

"Son, what makes you think the people will accept you? You are your father's son, are you not? Be careful, Lexus. A day's planning for throwing your father off the throne is not enough. You need people on the inside as well, not to mention coalition with intelligentsia of the valley to make your plan flawless." The King opposed.

"I have 3 generals by my side and they are the most beloved in the Kingdom. Whatever they believe is suitable, the people believe is suitable." Lexus clarified. The King and Jacoby looked at each other. "Are you certain you can trust them? Why would they side with you?" Jacoby asked worriedly.

"They hate my father's legitimate family and they know that they will bring the Daemons' end once they take the throne." Lexus replied curtly, while standing up to take his leave.

"Thank you for all you have helped me with. We shall be strong allies to battle what is to come, because I sense a great evil coming." He added with worry plaguing his mind. "I consider you as a son, Lexus, not just an ally." The King replied with such pride.

Lexus hugged his closest friend. "Forever, comrade." Jacoby said. "Forever." Lexus replied. Unbreakable bond of friendship.

"Where is that ungrateful bastard of yours." Orian's wife sneered. She always believed the love Orian had for the bastard represented a deeper adorning he had for Lexus' mother. She hated the very existence of her. And that is why she brought Marissa's demise with a vial of poison.

No one suspected it was Ophelia's doing. After all, the nobles and her husband never anticipated that she had prior knowledge of Orian's bastard son. After Marissa's death, Ophelia thought he would get rid of the bastard son, but instead, he brought him to live in the castle and made it known to everyone that Lexus was indeed his. God, how she hated the guts of that child.

"We had a heated chat earlier. I think he is somewhere, trying to calm down." Orian replied curtly diving into his dinner. "Is the bastard not content in his paradise?" Ophelia pushed further and Orian had had enough. He slammed his fist on the table and everyone shook in response. "Enough! That is my son you speak of. Behave yourself!" Orian roared in the face of his wife. Ophelia was boiling with anger and decided to keep quiet.

A perplexing silence found its way to the dinner table and everyone sat still, not a single word.

As silence grew in the room, the storm brewing outside was soon to arrive. Lexus was facing the castle. The sky reflected his wrath. An intense darkness with an immeasurable suffocation.

Within an hour, a sea of red flooded the castle. Not a single surface was left untainted. The metallic stench of the red horror hung in the air. Lexus stood proudly at the scene before him. He was the King of the Daemons now.

Lexus heard familiar footsteps approaching. "Lexus, we have news." Prince Jacoby said. Little did Jacoby know that Lexus had already known. "Lucifer has fallen." Lexus smirked. "How di-" Prince Jacoby was taken aback. "Just a hunch."

"And now that you've killed your father, what will you do?" Jacoby queried. "Jacoby, you and I will rule the realm of hell. I will take care of Lucifer, no matter how much time it takes." Lexus smirked sinisterly.

*back to the present*

Thana's face held an expression of pure disgust and terror. "How could you?" She breathed out, unable to fathom the revelations. But Thana couldn't say that this was not expected of Lexus, she knew that he was well more than capable of doing such a thing.

Thana decided on shutting up—it was the most sensible option at the moment.

Lexus stared at her. He couldn't contain the fire that burned in him. He wasn't going to lie. He felt things for this woman. Desire? Lust? Love? He didn't care. He just wanted a taste of her, but now wasn't the right time... Maybe tonight.

And as if the afternoon's revelations weren't enough, there came barging Prince Jacoby Tenebris into the room grinning like a Cheshire cat. Thana's mind could not handle the sight before her, and so, she blacked out.

"My man, Jacoby, couldn't you pick a more convenient time?" Lexus chuckled, while picking Thana's limp body from the floor.

"What can I say? I could't wait."
