Chapter 12- Green, blue and purple
After yesterday's revelations, I stayed up all night plotting and planning. I will make everyone in hell adore and obey me so that I get what I want. I decided total control of hell was the answer to all. I must identify my enemies from the start though and I'm pretty sure Erebus wishes to kill me already. I stole his precious title as heir. Second in line comes my abhorrent father. That wretched thing.
What I do not understand is that if he hated me so much, he could have just ignored my existence or even killed me to keep me away from him. There's something more to my actual connection to him. I also realized that if he 'committed his mistake' thousands of years ago, how am I 16? Things just don't add up. I don't really have anyone to ask and I don't even know where to start! "This is going to fail before I even begin." I groaned as I rested my head on the desk. Suddenly the door came flying open and Erebus came barging in. He was dressed in black pants, a black polo shirt and combat boots. Seriously what is with these people and black?! How cliché. Erebus's face was tense and I could sense his discomfort. Great way to start the day! Note the sarcasm.
"What do you want?" I ordered grumpily. He stayed silent and kept walking towards me. "Whatever." I snapped. He came too close and grabbed a fistful of my hair. "AHHH YOU'RE HURTING ME! STOP!" I screamed as I desperately tried to escape his fists.
"It's not my fault you fucker! He chose me! Stop being petty, ERBEUS!" I shouted and he suddenly released my hair and latched his hands to my throat. "S-stop." I croaked. I wanted to cry so desperately but I will not let a single tear escape my eyes in front of him. "Don't say my name!" He ordered. Oxygen was being cut off and the room began to darken.
This won't be my end. Suddenly a fuming Lucifer entered the room, coughing. "Let her go!" Lucifer ordered immediately. "Shut the fuck up, Lucifer." Erebus snapped and continued choking me. Lucifer held his hand out in Erebus's direction, and sent Erebus flying across the room. I dropped down to the floor trying to catch my breath.
Lucifer coughed a bit more but soon regained his breath. Weird. "HOW DARE YOU HURT MY HEIR!" Lucifer boomed. Oh that's what he cares about... His precious heir. How stupid I could have been to think he actually cared about me for once. "I thought you didn't want her. Might as well get rid of her. Plus, you'll always have other people to name your heirs, Lucifer. What are you hiding?!" Erebus demanded.
"Erebus, you have lost the luxury of calling me Lucifer when I replaced you with my daughter. Remember that I am ruler of hell, not your friend. Should I send you to the torture chambers for you to remember your place?" Lucifer threatened, his eyes gleaming with mischief and a sickening smile crossing his lips.
Erebus scoffed and stood up. "Watch your back, Thana." He said and as he reached the door, Lucifer clutched his arm. "If one hair on Thana's head is by any chance harmed, consider yourself a new citizen in the land of shadows." Lucifer spat and I swallowed hard. Erebus vigorously frees his arm from Lucifer's grip and exits the room.
"Stay away from me." I said as Lucifer's eyes met mine. "That is how you repay someone who just saved your life?" He asked quizzically. "We both know there's something in it for you. You would never save my life for nothing. You're hiding something." I provoked him. "You are really one of the worst mistakes I made." He spat and left the room.
"I'll show you, Lucifer." I whispered as I brought my knees closer to my chest.
*
"EREBUS! YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD!" I screamed at the top of my lungs as I saw my bruised neck on my bathroom mirror. His fingers were imprinted on my skin. Green, blue and purple invaded my skin and I couldn't help but tear up. As I gently touched the bruises, a sharp pain erupted in my neck.
Suddenly, Erebus appeared behind me, smirking. "You're looking a bit... bruised." He mocked. "Mock all you want Erebus, but when I become Queen of hell, I promise you will suffer." I told him. "Over my dead body." He seethed. "Exactly." I replied and pushed him aside. He clutched my arm and pulled me closer to his side. "I will take back what is mine." He whispered."You wish." I replied and pushed him away. "You can talk all you want but blood has precedence. I was born to take that throne and you were merely keeping the "heir" seat warm. Now leave the damned room, Erebus."
I sauntered out of the bathroom. Suddenly a black bird with red strikes flew in from the window holding a paper. "Meet me in my office. - Lucifer." I stared at the note, but the bird snatched it away from my hands then both the bird and the letter burst into flames. I screeched and stumbled backwards. I hit Erebus and fell to the ground.
"Falling for me this fast?" He teased. "Yeah, sure. It's not that a bird just flew in, gave me a letter and burst into flames along with it!" I ranted. Erebus stared at me then yawned. I squinted my eyes at him and glared. Suddenly another demonic bird came flying in.
"Stay away from me you demonic little shit!" I shouted. But he didn't come to me. Instead, he went straight to Erebus. Erebus snatched the letter away from the bird violently. I actually felt pity for the bird, he was going to become roast bird breast soon. Erebus read the letter and clenched his jaw. "Let's go, Thana." He ordered and threw the letter at the bird.
*Lucifer had literal smoke coming out of his ears, Erebus was being a whiny bitch and I just sat there hoping they wouldn't tear each other's heads off. "FOR THE LAST TIME! I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU WANT, EREBUS!" Lucifer yelled and I flinched. "YOU EXPECT ME TO TRAIN THE CUNNING BITCH THAT TOOK MY THRONE?" Erebus argued. There we go again. "Stop fucking whining about the throne, Erebus. No wonder he took it from you." I replied irately. "I finally agree with her." Lucifer gave me a nod. "Have your fucking father- daughter bonding time. I'm gonna go and create one hell of a training." He shot out and left the room. He harshly slammed the door shut. "Poor door." I said and Lucifer scoffed. "This is a rulebook. Read this carefully, it might come in handy.By the way, your training begins next month, you don't have to worry just yet." Lucifer handed me the heavy old looking book."Get out." He half-smiled. The devil smiles? I laughed to myself and headed back to the room. On my way there, I noticed a peculiar wooden door, on it LIBRARY was carved.
I'd have to check that out later.
