⚠️Trigger warning: Violence🎧: Spell It Out- You Me At Six
Chapter 42- Gashed Skin
"If you dare touch a hair on her head you will die right here and now." Jacoby said threateningly low. I appreciate what he's doing, but I don't need anyone fighting my own fights. "It's fine Jacoby, I'll handle it." I told him.
"Aw this is cute, but did you tell him about your little rendez-vous with Lexus?" Jayden spat bitterly. My body froze at the words coming out of his filthy mouth. My mind went blank— unable to register how the hell he knew of the thing between Lexus and I. Jacoby's shoulders fell in disappointment.
"You're so petty, Jayden. Why don't you find an actual meaningful thing to say and stop meddling with my business. How sad the only thing you can do is rat me out to my fiancée. What happened with Lexus was just a mistake, don't twist it into something more." I argued.
It was true. What happened with Lexus was just a mistake. If he didn't think so, then why is he hiding wherever the hell he is? Because I'm nothing but a plaything to him. "My presence has prominently shaken you to your core. I scare you, Thana. Face it, I am your worst nightmare." Jayden's voice went down an octave, his vitriolic words reaching deep into my soul.
I never wanted to admit it, but I am frightened by Jayden's sole existence. The horrors he subjected me to as I grew older were nothing short of petrifying. He disoriented and tormented me mentally. Abused me physically and psychologically.
I looked again into his demonic orbs, how much hate they radiated. His diabolic smile stimulated a nauseating feeling at the pit of my stomach. Jayden walked closer to me, revealing the knife in his hand.
My heart started beating real fast. I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of hurting me.
As soon as Jayden was extremely close. I kicked him in the stomach. He fell back a little, but it did not have the desired effect on him. "Fuck." Was all I could utter after he lunged like a maniac at me.
Jacoby was literally glued to the floor, unable to move. His face held panic and worry, and it seemed to me that his mouth was forcefully shut. "Thana, be careful!" Jacoby shouted. I instantly ducked and kicked Jayden's leg with all my might. Jayden lost balance and fell to the floor. "YOU BITCH!" He roared.
Just as I picked my dress up and wanted to run, I felt a hand grab my skirt. Fuck dresses. "HELP!" I started to scream. "WHERE'S EVERYONE!" I started thrashing and crying.
"No one can see us here. We're in a cloaked area." Jayden sinisterly mocked. I'm going to fucking die. Jacoby's cheeks were wet, and he repeatedly tried to free himself, but no avail. Jayden pulled me down so that I fell on his chest. Who's helping him?
He held me down and pressed a cold-hard sharp object to my chest. A knife. "Remember when I kissed you right here? And you were begging me not to? You were whimpering in fright?" And that ladies and gentlemen, is when the tears started flowing —no control. "Fuck you, Jayden. Fuck you." I sobbed.
"That's exactly what I was going to do that night, but god knows how you escaped." He dug the knife deeper in my skin. "I'm not going to kill you, just hurt you real bad." He whispered, biting on my earlobe.
I felt the heat of the knife penetrate my skin and gash across my chest. The scar I saw in the mirror.
The dampness of my blood-soaked dress made it cling to my body irksomely – almost like second skin. Pain engulfed my chest, swallowing any power I had over him. Jayden had let his guard down the moment he saw the wound he had inflicted, mistaking the soreness of the gashed skin for weakness. I mustered the last bit of strength in me and yanked the knife out of his faltering grip, stabbing him right in the kneecap. He should have never underestimated me.
An ear-splitting scream laced with pain had escaped Jayden's lips. His dark filthy blood ran down his knee and onto the floor, tainting the gleaming marble. Poor marble floor.
My vision was fading, and Jayden's incessant screaming and cursing had started to die down – or at least I could not hear them anymore. Nausea reigned over my core, but before I could give into the aching, I heard King Asmodeus voice. Maybe I'll actually live to see tomorrow.

My eyes fluttered open, meeting the blinding rays of sun that slowly broke through the room's darkness. As I took in my surroundings, I noticed that I was back in Lucifer's castle. My eyes landed on a man in the corner. His hair fell tiredly over his face; he was sleeping soundly. But, I could deduce from his attire and hair color that it was in fact Jacoby.
The area of the wound was bandaged and as I started to fully regain consciousness, the intensity of the pain amplified. "Jac-oby?" I croaked, the dryness of my throat feeling like sandpaper. Although my voice was extremely low and hoarse, Jacoby immediately jumped out of his seat. "Thana?! You're awake!" he exclaimed and ran over to my side. "How long have I been unconscious?" I asked tiredly. "It's been 2 days. The healers said you'll be fine, but it's going to scar." Jacoby explained while stroking my hair. I was just about to ask about Lexus, until I noticed that the person who'd clearly been waiting for me to wake up was Jacoby, whereas Lexus was nowhere in sight. I decided on staying silent, gaze falling to my lap.
"I know you want to ask about him." Jacoby pressed his lip to a thin line. I met Jacoby's discouraged gaze. I wasnt going to break his heart like this. Especially for someone as egocentric as Lexus. "Who's he?" I questioned, trying to pull my confused façade off. You could visibly see Lexus face light up. "I meant Lexus, but I see that I was wrong, plus, I dont know why I said that-" I cut off his rumbling by pecking him.
After I pulled away, Jacoby was in a daze. "Did you jus-? Did we" he started mumbling and I burst out laughing. Too bad my laughter didn't last due to a sharp pain erupting in my chest. "I think I'd better call everyone. Maeva's been frantic over your state. We gave her sedatives, but I think she's have woken up by now."
"Okay." I smiled at him and he left the room. I felt a light breeze sweep through the room and turned to find the window open, and on the windowsill, stood Lexus. Let's see what he'd have to say this time.
