Brace yourselves, children. There's a rocky road ahead...
-------------------------------------Chapter 15- A Broken Barrier and some cute little revelations
I was in a meadow. Thousands of flowers surrounded me. A liberating feeling rushed through and the smooth breeze kissed my face gently. The white clouds had the most beautiful of shapes. Suddenly everything was losing color, a fire started amidst the flowers, the clouds turned black as night.
I woke up drenched in sweat and hyperventilating. "Thana, dear." A familiar feminine voice said. My vision focused and before me stood Maeva. "You! Stay away! You could've told me! WHY DID YOU KEEP IT A SECRET?!" I screamed and she stayed in. I finally took in my surroundings and noticed that I was in my room. "Thana, I will put a spell on you to make sure you do not interrupt me while I explain." She said and just as I opened my mouth to object, she had already put the spell. Well, shit. My eyes widened and I glared at her.
"Thana. I can't stay here for much, especially since I have another person in with me. I couldn't tell you the truth because Lucifer would inflict harm upon the children in the orphanage. He was already mad because of the card reading, because apparently someone had switched my cards with ones that once you touch them, will expose your location to anyone. Hence, the lost souls found your location and went to the orphanage. When they couldn't find you, they made sure to inform us that they know where you are. So they attacked Levi and Remi." She explained and I just stared at her. What the fuck? This is too much to process. "You think this is too much. Wait for the rest." Maeva snorted then her expression returned to serious. I raised my eyebrow at her. Not being able to talk sucks.
"Anyway, they chose Remi and Levi because their roommate is Henry. Henry as you may now know is an angel. Your angel. They were trying to send a clear message. Fortunately, your smoking hot protector from hell took action and directly summoned you to the in-between." I gave Maeva a 'what the fuck' look and she just waved it off. "He is hit, Thana. Don't try to deny that." Maeva argued.
She has a point. My subconscious retorted. Shut up, subconscious. Fine.
Maeva just laughed. She was listening to my small banter with my super cute subconscious. Note the sarcasm. But the thing that troubled me is that Henry is my guardian angel. All the times I thought I was protecting him, he was actually protecting me... He was my protector all along.
The door suddenly opened and Henry innocently stood before me. This cute little thing can kick ass? No way. "I'm going to leave both of you." Maeva smiled and walked out the door. "We don't have a lot of time, Henry." She stated and went out the door, closing it on her way out.
"So, you're my guardian angel, huh." I said, fidgeting with my fingers. "Yeah. Listen, Thana. I know you may not believe it but it's true. I may look five years old but I am thousands of years old. I died when I was five, so this is what I look this age. I actually stood by your mother at a time." He said and my eyes teared up. " I almost forgot I have a mother." I chuckled sadly. "Can you tell me about her?" I pleaded. Henry smiled at me and sat on the couch.
"Your mother was very brave. She was strong and independent. Much like you are. She was a very strong angel, the strongest female. She had long brown hair like yours, and beautiful emerald green eyes. Your mother fell for your father. He too, loved her deeply. She had an undeniable personality. She was a really good woman." I found myself smiling at his words. I wiped a tear off my cheek and sniffed. "She sounds great." I told him and he nodded.
"Henry?" I said. "Yes?" He answered. "What happened to her?" I asked. He stared at me, a broken expression invaded his features. "It is not my tale to tell. One day, the right person will tell you at the right time and now surely isn't the right time." He explained. "Your words are much larger than your size, Henry." I laughed and he joined in.
The door came flying open and Erebus barged in. "You again." I sighed. "You're laughing and we have much bigger problems on our hands?!" He queried. "Calm your tits. What's wrong?" I asked him. "I can't with you." He said irately. "Just tell her." Henry snapped. Boy, I like this thousand year old kid.
"The barrier has been broken." Erebus stated. "No shit, Sherlock." Henry answered. I burst out laughing and my eyes started tearing up. Erebus scowled. "Actually. I'm not talking about the barrier between the land of shadows and earth, the one between the land of shadows and the in-between..." he explained and a serious look took over Henry's features. "That means they have access to this world. Erebus you must take care of Thana. She is more important than you perceive. Keep her away from the box of wonders. If she opens it we're on a whole new level of trouble." Henry said before he started fading.
Box of wonders? Could it be the same box with the knife? "Thana! You opened the box?!" Henry shouted and before I could answer him, he disappeared into thin air. Oh boy, could this day get any worse. As if on cue, a thunder bolt resonated through the room and before me and Erebus stood Lucifer. Torn clothes, heaving chest, and clenched teeth. Just peachy. He stared at me intently and roared. A roar that shook the grounds and brought destruction. The day Maeva saw through my future came rushing back. 'Dark and unease, the Tower is the representation of chaos and conflict. Disaster will be caused by the yet unknown and traumatic events that will unfold. The Tower involves tragedy, you must decide how you will face it.'
Her words left a sinking feeling in my heart. There's a storm brewing, and it's coming all too soon.
