Friends. I have honestly never struggled more in a matter such as this one.
I find it exceptionally confusing to keep everyone satisfied, and honestly, everyone in the mortal world seemed burdened by these vacant and meaningless friendships.
They all sat around each other, seeming content and appeased with the company; but, that wasn't the case behind closed doors.
In each of their foul hearts lay a door of hatred and envy, stimulating pressure in their scruffs, carrying the most disturbing of thoughts to their minds.
Slowly, they drive the sensation of back-stabbing, the undeniable euphoric feeling of hurting each other and I? Well— I stared at them with a shade of repugnance coating my eyes. How could they?
Every day, I would see the closest of friends abandon each other, abandon a sacred bond over mindless misconceptions and it was discouraging to say the least.
But here, it was different. I knew it. I stared at the only person who'd been there for me through it all as she cried over my misfortunes, I saw her purity and honesty.
As my fate glimmered darkly over me, I found even inhaling a single breath, strenuous.
"Don't cry for me, Maeva. I knew I would have to sacrifice everything and I did it for your safety and everyone's in this Kingdom." I truthfully told her.
"You don't understand how disheartening this is. I feel the maliciousness radiating off him. He taints the stars, the sky, the rooms as he walks by them. He will cause irreversible destruction. It's not just me crying over you, Thana. I feel the dispirited state of the flowers, the rage of the Enchanted Forest, the outrage of every single living entity that surrounds this castle." She rested her face in her palms.
The children of the night could be heard —disputing over the intensity of my pitifully gloomy destiny. The wind howled, arguing with the rain that slashed powerfully against my windows, attempting to snatch me out of my misery to a far off isle, where the dying leaves knew I would be safe.
"I see so much blood — death even. It's unreasonably throttiling." She added in despair.
I tightly clutched Maeva, pulling her into a bone-crushing hug. "I don't know what I could've done without you, but this time it's my problem and mine only. You and Elias have started a beautiful relationship and I have a hunch that it'll last for eternity. Cherish that, Maeva." I sincerely confessed.
"Let me help you-" Maeva protested, but I cut her off. "Go to your rooms, Maeva. You need to rest." She sniffled and nodded, grabbing her robe from the couch and hugging me goodbye.
I collapsed on the bed, the weariness finally taking reign over my body. "Even my veins ache." I sighed and closed my eyes. It's been a long day.

It's been two weeks since the engagement. Lucifer sent me an ungodly letter, cursing the hell out of me, but I know he recognizes that it's the only way, he's just too damn stubborn to say anything.
