Chapter 23- Hell's Badboy

"Thana, this particular meeting will not be taking place in the in-between." Erebus said as we descended the stair-case. "Where the hell are you taking me?!" I exclaimed. "Don't worry, dear. It's somewhere real familiar." He chuckled. "Are you taking me to the mortal world?" I inquired.
"Ding. Ding. Ding! We have a winner." He replied.

We reached the car and I stared at Erebus for a moment. When had he become this kind? Or even funny? I could've sworn a mere week ago he was at my throat. Erebus caught my gaze and his face held a boyish- grin. His gaze diverted to the ground. Is he shy? What the fuck has gotten into him?

"Erebus why are you being so nice to me?" I said out of the blue. "I guess I just got used to having you around. You know two months may seem a bit but they are enough for you to get used to someone. But don't take this as a usual thing, I'll probably get bored of you in a month's time." He answered. I cocked an eyebrow at him. "That's the Erebus I know and despise."

"Seriously though? I've been here for two months only? Man it feels like I've been here forever." I told Erebus. "Yes, but you see. It's actually going to be one year in a week's time in the mortal world since you came here. Time in the in-between works differently. A month here is almost six months in the mortal world." He explained.
"That means my birthday is in almost 3 days? As per the mortal world?" I queried and he nodded. I'm legit turning 17 and it's been almost a year since I came here. Woah. I wonder if something's changed in the mortal world

Erebus got into the car and I , too, followed. "Buckle your seatbelt, this is going to be a bit bumpy." He told me. With the press of a button, we super-sped to the point where I could literally not keep my eyes open. I felt a sick feeling reach the pit of my stomach and I felt dizzy.

The car suddenly came to a halt and Erebus was laughing at my expression. I rolled my eyes at him. "Stop laughing at me." I snapped. "Do you need a barf bag?" He mocked. "Hah, very funny." I said and opened the car door.

I was hit with a fresh breeze of air. The mortal world feels so different. I felt at home, even if I didn't know where the hell I was in the mortal world.

My eyes hovered over the old houses lined at both sides of the street. Carvings were etched at the borders of the residences, enriching their façade. The concrete ground under me complemented the old feel of the street. The moon governed over the skies and the scattered stars served as company, served as the crown jewels of the King.

"Where are we?" I whispered breathlessly into the night. My eyes sparkled with curiosity and I couldn't help but smile. "We're in the brilliant city of London." Erebus replied. I gaped at him. "Erebus, I-" I was starting to say, but he cut me off. "Thana I would like of you to call me by my real name, not the one Lucifer picked for me. My real name is Lexus. Lucifer picked Erebus because it means guardian of hell, ever since we started working together, he'd been preparing me for title of heir, but I guess that isn't happening anytime soon so I think I'll settle back to my old name." He told me.

I didn't know how to reply to him. "Ere- I mean Lexus, I'm so sorry, but you have to know that I never chose this for myself. I never had a say in this."

"It's fine, Thana. It is all in the past. We have a dinner to attend." He said and I noticed that his tie was loose. Before I could say anything, Lexus started walking towards a beautiful restaurant with candles lighting its exterior.

I silently followed Erebus, I mean Lexus. Man this is going to be hard. I caught up to Lexus and stopped him. "Wait! I noticed that your tie was loose." I told him and he spun around to face me. "Fix it for me?" He asked. "Sure." I replied.

My hands found their way to his collar, as I straightened his black tie. Lexus took advantage of our closeness and put his hands on my waist. "Erebus, please do-"

"My name is Lexus." He reminded me and I let out a cuss. "Sorry, it's kind of hard to adjust to the new name." I joked, trying to ignore than fact that his hands were slowly moving down my back and close to the danger zone. "Okay there, badboy. No touchy-feely tonight." I told him and removed his hands from my back.

"My bad, Princess. I shouldn't have done that, but I definitely do not regret it." He winked. "Dipshit." I called him.

"Well I'm not Hell's renowned badboy for nothing." Lexus said sinisterly. Evil hot idiot.

"Shall we?" He asked. "We shall." Replied to him and we both walked into the restaurant.

The sound of indistinct chatter and champagne glasses clinking together filled my ears as soon as I stepped foot in the place. "This restaurant is magnificent." I told Lexus. "I know. I always come here while visiting the city." He told me.

"You come to London often?" I asked him and he nodded. Then, a hostess made her way to us with a flirtatious smile on her face. Ah yes, the ol' waitress trying to seduce a hot customer cliché. This ought to be fun.

"Mr. Lexus! It's a pleasure having you back here." She dreamily said to Lexus while stressing on the word pleasure. Her eyes then focused on me and I could've sworn they turned red at the sight of me. She immediately scowled. "Welcome Miss-?" She anticipated my answer. "Princess Thana Dea." A distinct English male voice said from behind me.

Both Lexus and I turned to face a guy who looks a bit older than us. Maybe 19? He had pitch black hair and black eyes as well. He looked well-built and pretty handsome, might I add. A confident look reigned over his features and a smile played at his lips.

"Elias Aurea." Lexus clicked his tongue. "My man, Lexus." He said and immediately went in for a bro-hug. They know each other?

"How have you been doing lately?" Elias asked him. Lexus was about to open his mouth to answer, but I intervened. "It's rude to call someone and then pretend they do not exist." I sneered at Elias. "Especially a princess." I added. I'm totally loving this title right now.

"She's feisty." Elias licked his lips and stared me from top to bottom, and trust me when I say he did not leave an inch of my body he didn't look at. "Eyes up here." I snapped. "I apologize, your highness, but you look... ravishing." He told me. Ew, what's up with this perv.

"Lexus, get your friend to calm his hormones. It's completely inappropriate for a coven leader to act in such a manner." I commented. Lexus laughed. Seriously? He laughed? Immature.

The waitress coughed, trying to get us to pay attention to her. "You wanted something?" I asked her in a challenging tone. Her gaze immediately fell to the floor and she bowed. She actually fricking bowed. "Your highness, would you like to be escorted to your table?" She asked me in a small voice. "Yes and please do speak up next time, your voice was barely audible." I said. What brought on this surge of power shall remain a mystery to me.

"She is one hell of a girl, Lex. I'd keep her." Elias's snotty voice said behind me. "I'm not a trophy to be kept, Mr. Elias." I told him while sitting in my chair. "She's right." Lexus agreed. "Well I'm speaking of basic human knowledge, it's not a debatable matter to state whether I'm an object or not." I argued.

"Now, getting back to business." I suggested. "Yes, of course." Lexus said. "My father has been captured by Daemons." I whispered the last part knowing that this place is crawling with them. "Don't worry, Thana. Speak openly. My people are everywhere." Elias smirked and I began scanning the place. I now noticed the tens of people glancing at us every now and then. My eyes met those of a young girl. She gave me a curt nod, indicating that she regarded me with respect and I nodded back to give her the impression that I noticed her act of politeness. "I must admit. I do admire your preparedness." I complemented Elias and knew I was going to regret it the moment his face held a smug proud look. I rolled my eyes.
