Chapter 14- Smell of Roses Wafting In The Air
What I found out that afternoon was staggering. It has full blown evidence that what happened last night was staged. I held the book in my hands and headed to Lucifer's office. When I reached the door, I pushed it open harshly. "Erebus, you fucking liar." I started to say. "How dar-" he started to say. "Save it!" I said and threw the book at him.
"Lost Souls do not coordinate attacks at Lucifer alone. They do it in groups and when they attack, they attack with all their might. The lost souls are now trapped in the land of shadows, which is an isolated region in the in-between." Erebus just smiled at me. "Why the fuck are you smiling like an idiot?! Hate to burst your bubble Erebus but I also learned from the servant's chatter that a man walked in to your office this morning and walked out with a briefcase full of money. I wonder to what use you put that money to." His face dropped at my words and a scowl formed at his lips.
"The rulebook I was given states that I can be removed as successor of the throne if an attack on the castle occurred and I wasn't on full alert and didn't do anything to control the situation. Face it, Erebus. You oh so desperately wanted to get rid of me, but you couldn't! Remember Erebus, however hard you try to ruin me, remember that I am Lucifer's daughter." Erebus' anger only grew stronger.
"Enough, Thana! You already knew I wanted you gone, what a shocker this is to you." He stated, trying to prove his point. "All this for a throne?" I whispered in disbelief. "It isn't just a throne, Thana! I worked centuries for this, I fought and did everything he wanted me to, just to have a 16 year old swoop in and take it ALL!" He roared. "But anger brews deep within, Thana. This isn't going to be my last strike at you. I don't just want hell anymore, I want EVERYTHING." He said and stormed off. I was left standing in the deafeningly silent room. Howls of the wolves erupted outside and the strong moonlight broke through the windows of the room. My mind raced with thoughts. What more could Erebus want?

The night. As dark as it may sound and as scary as it may be,
Its beauty cannot be denied. The way the pitch black sky is as a raven's feathers, the way the wind sweeps through the dark and empty streets is lively. Few are those who indulge in the beauty of it, yet many are those who cower away because of the screams and cries they hear. Myths of the night are sometimes true, it is oftentimes the reflection of one's soul. Maybe those who despise the night are those who see their true forms in it, are those who see the monsters they truly are. We sleep at night to block out whatever horrors our mind conjures up of it. The monsters we create are to rid ourselves of the sins we've committed, believing that there is something scarier than what our hearts choose to hide.
I sat in the bathtub. Water reaching up to my neck and the smell of roses wafting in the air. Erebus' words kept on repeating in my mind. My eyes were droopy and tired, my body aching with the pain of restless nights. I haven't slept in ages. The angels and demons dance around in my heart, misleading me. Drowning me in their fight of good and evil. My mind filled up with thoughts of henry and the sisters. I chocked as the tears streamed down my cheeks. "I miss them so much." I whispered. I hugged my knees tighter to my body and let the tears out, letting my misery sink in.
Suddenly I felt hands land on my shoulders, just as I wanted to let out a scream, I was pushed into the water. I thrashed around for air, water invaded my lungs and I was beginning to lose consciousness.
My throat was burning, a single breath was all I wanted. Water filled my lungs, depriving me of a single chance to live. Suddenly the pressure on my shoulders was gone, I wanted so desperately to go up for air but my weight was too much for me to bring myself to get out of the water. Suddenly a pair of hands lifted me. I saw a face I never thought I'd see. What is he doing here? A smile found its way to my lips and a single tear escaped my eyes. His white wings were pure and saintly. "I'm here for you, Thana. Don't worry." His voice filled my ears. "H-enr-y." I cried out. This was all I remembered before I completely lost touch with the world.
