"Harry you know that's not the way to the Defense against the Dark arts room." Hermione sighed. Harry was trying to sneak up to visit Humfrey so he could get out of his first class.
"Don't all first years realize that they won't be able to get into the Room of Requirement since they don't know how?" Draco asked exasperatedly. Many young students were trying to knock on the unyielding walls, or press their ears against it thinking that it would whisper to them.
"Who knows. I'm pretty sure it's destroyed now after the fiendfire that your friend set off."
"Well anyways, when and what is our first class?"
"We have Defense against the Dark arts first hour but we have permission to get there a bit later and leave earlier. That goes for all of our classes." Hermione informed after double checking her schedule.
"Who's our new Defense against the Dark Arts Professor? Humfrey didn't introduce any of the new Professors last night."
"I don't know. Guess we'll find out." Hermione pointed the last few students to their classes.
"Let's get our stuff from the hall."
"Can you grab mine too? This first year has been wandering around since she came out from breakfast." Hermione called over her shoulder. She continued towards the little girl and bent down beside her. "Are you lost?"
"No. You are." The tiny Hufflepuff turned her gaze onto Hermione.
"I'm sorry?"
"Time is running out. Two most unlikely of people will join forces together as friend become foe. What was once thought vanquished will arise and set out to wreak havoc once again...three must work together to protect their world, but it will come at a great cost. And the battle to cleanse our world of that evil will begin on the eve of the final night. Until it ends...nobody is safe. " The small girl blinked a few times and looked at Hermione. "Hi! I'm sorry if I did something wrong. I have to go to class." And she scurried away.
"Wait what's your name?" Hermione called.
"Hailey Moore." Hailey called over her shoulder before disappearing out of sight.
"Granger come on it's time to go." Draco waved her over. "What is it?" He frowned at the look on Hermione's face.
"We have to see Humfrey. Now." Hermione took his hand and tugged towards the Headmaster's office.
"Why? We have to go to class." Draco unsuccessfully tried to pull the young witch towards their first class. He never thought he would have to try and convince Hermione Granger to go to class. But when she was determined to do something, there was no stopping her.
"Prophecy." Was all Hermione gave him. She spoke the password, and they went through to the door. "Humfrey?" Hermione knocked.
"Come in?"
"I have something to tell you." Hermione burst through the door and realized that the other headmasters, Professor McGonagall, and Andrea were in the room.
"What is it that an insignificant girl has to tell us?" Andrea scoffed.
"This is our Head Girl, Hermione Granger, and you will treat her with respect." Humfrey said sternly.
"There has been a prophecy." Hermione announced.
"By Sybill? Professor McGonagall questioned.
"No someone new. Her name's Hailey Moore, and she's a young Hufflepuff."
"But how can we know she is a true seer? And not someone who made up a few clever lines?" Chris asked curiously.
"We can't. We'll just have to trust that it's true." Humfrey said.
"Well how about you tell us the lines?" Madam Maxime prompted.
"It's better if you see what I saw myself." Hermione led the way over to the pensive and extracted the memory. She laid it down in the water and everyone dunked their heads in, one at a time.
"You see?" Hermione said once the last person came out.
"What does it mean?" Andrea asked impatiently.
"Prophecies aren't that simple. "Time is running out. Two most unlikely of people will join forces together as friend become foe. What was once thought vanquished will arise and set out to wreak havoc once again" what could that be referring to?" Madam Maxime frowned.
"It has to be the death eaters. Think about what happened to Lee Jordan." Hermione said, and saw Draco shrink a little as people gave him suspicious looks.
"That's true. And who else has turned on our world like that?" Humfrey pointed out.
"Three must work together to protect their world, but it will come at a great cost." Chris recited.
"What could that mean?" Andrea tapped her foot on the floor impatiently.
"It could mean anything. The "Golden trio", the three returning champions, the three new champions whoever they may be, the three schools, deathly hallows, who knows what." Humfrey began to twirl his hair thoughtfully.
"Of course our world just has to be made up of the number three." Draco sighed.
"We'll figure it out." Hermione said determinedly.
"And the battle to cleanse our world of that evil will begin on the eve of the final night. What evil? What night? Night of the year, school year, final night of the world?" Madam Maxime frowned.
"That will remain to be seen." Chris said softly.
Everyone had a thought that wasn't voiced. The other prophecies weren't truly figured out until after it all happened. So was this prophecy a warning, or purely a death sentence for the wizarding world?
