"Ran."
"Ran."
Rantaro rubbed his eyes and turned onto his other side, trying to fall asleep again.
"Ran, I need to ask something of you."
Rantaro slightly opened his eyes to see a faint outlining of Korekiyo at the edge of his bed. He yawned and stared at the outline.
"What do you want Kiyo?"
"I was wondering if you have time tomorrow to accompany me on a picnic. I bought a nice sundress yesterday and I feel that tomorrow is the perfect time to use it."
"You really need to stop spending money so carelessly."
"Answer the question, please."
Rantaro's mind was still scattered, answering the question preemptively. Even though he liked hanging out with Korekiyo, there was no certain thing they were going to do there like just eating or just talking. Completely and utterly unpredictable.
"Alright, but next time, ask me a little earlier."
"I will keep that in mind."
The shadow then disappeared through the door of his room, softly closing it afterwards. Rantaro opened his bedside drawer and took out a bottle of water, taking a sip before throwing it on the floor. He probably forgot to put the cap back on, whatever.
He descended into the sheet and closed his eyes...
And slept...
And slept...
"Amami-Chan! Can I have some water?"
"I just wanna sleep..." Rantaro whispered to himself.
Luckily, the morning came around fast. Before he knew it, he was already applying his eyeliner and replacing his removable piercings with newer ones.
He walked out and stepped on the bottle he left out last night and accidentally blew off the top. He sighed and walked around it, he shouldn't do anything while he's sleepy.
He made his way to his closet to see if there was anything clean in there, judging by the smell, everything was washed in a 1000-year-old grave. He grabbed a white shirt and a yellow jacket with jeans. At least they looked clean.
He walked outside were Korekiyo stood, No mask, white sundress, large sunhat and... blond hair?
"The sundress came with hairspray and this hat. There was also a bag of 'Honey Budda Chips' inside as a 'heavenly gift' but that can be overlooked, let's go."
Korekiyo started walking ahead while Rantaro tried to say next to him, his hair always got in his face when he walked behind him.
"Where's the basket? Bug repellent?"
"I entrusted our picnic in some of our friends, such as Tsumugi as a volunteer."
Rantaro widened his eyes, everyone and their Komeada X Sans staning friend knew what she'll do to this 'picnic'. He had faith but it wasn't at all as great as Angie's faith in Atua, it couldn't even compare, to be honest.
The selected park wasn't as far as Rantaro thought but the spot they were sitting almost made Rantaro back out, 'It wasn't you, it's just that I don't have the heart to sit on a heart-shaped blanket that is as big as my love or my desire to keep this friendship for you... Oh, and because I don't trust Tsumugi.'
Rantaro tried to keep his composure as he sat under the cherry tree with the heart-shaped blanket under it. It was so awkward that it'll be easier for both of them to just go back to the school.
Korekiyo sat down on the other side of the blanket and sifted through the picnic basket, he took out the promised bug spray and spritzed it on the exposed parts of his body legs, arms, etc. He passed it to Rantaro in which he sprayed it on his hands and a little on his cheeks.
This is not going to go well.
And after a few minutes of talking, it was already going downhill. There was a card inside the basket with topics they could talk about (Which were WAY over the boundaries of an innocent friendship) signed by 'GOLDEN GIRL GENIUS ' and Korekiyo actually tried to continue the conversation by using one of those questions.
Rantaro didn't talk much during the picnic, he just took him 20 minutes to eat one of the 17 sandwiches from the basket while trying to answer what his favourite colour dildo was. Korekiyo didn't even budge when he asked the questions, just peered his eyes away and stared at the grass.
Now that Rantaro thinks about it, Korekiyo wasn't acting normal either. He avoided all eye contact as much as possible and occasionally looked at his hand then brought up something else completely unrelated to their current topic, like a very badly written plot twist.
By the time their very awkward tension cleared up, they couldn't even look at each other. Korekiyo folded the blanket and placed it in the basket while Rantaro walked in front. When they confronted each other at the entrance, their faces were red with utter embarrassment, but Korekiyo still had the balls to break the tension.
"I've enjoyed my time here."
"Yeah..."
"I'll see you later then."
Korekiyo quickly stomped away, almost in anger. Rantaro took the other route to Hope's Peak to make it less awkward, but just when Rantaro pushed the picnic into the back of his mind, he swore he heard a very loud 'Damn it' a few streets away from him.
