Rantaro felt his stiff arms under his sleepy haze, waking up due to the uncomfortable feeling. He yawned and rubbed his eyes, memories rushing back to him like a tidal wave.
Sitting up and looking around, he remembered that he stayed over Korekiyo's house as his white week gift. The morning light poured through the window like a golden waterfall, dust particles slowly following the direction of the light.
"Good morning, Korekiyo." He pattern the space next to him to find out if we empty; only finding the soft touch of the blanket.
He removed himself from the bed only to look in thought. He swore he had something to do today. He shrugged and headed towards the bathroom, starting his morning activities.
"Ah, good morning Rantaro. I would've expected you to knock beforehand. I was kind of surprised really."
He played with the hair on the back of his head as he apologized.
"Here. You can keep it afterwards." Korekiyo handed him an unpacked toothbrush.
"Thank you. I really do appreciate it." Rantaro smiled warmly.
"You are most welcome. All I ask in return is your regular personality, which is what I'm not receiving at the moment. Are you nervous to stay here?" Korekiyo didn't want to make him uncomfortable with what happened last night, he really didn't mind it at all but when Rantaro was flustered, he would be REALLY formal.
"No, no. I-It's just your hospitality is just unwavering. I feel like I'm just invading at this point." His eyes scanned the floor in guilt. Korekiyo had never seen him like this, 'Is it the illness alone or is it emotion?' he wondered. Humans are really a specimen to behold.
Specimen...specimen. Korekiyo smirked to himself, Rantaro, his little specimen for him to observe. Figuring everything there is to know about his own kind will be too much of a thirst to quench, his little specimen was only a sliver to the enormous world there is. Both perfection and imperfection in a human, intertwined in a chaotic tandem. How did it take him so long to notice?
No wonder he seemed so perfect, he IS perfection to the humane standard. How ironic that the objectively most perfect creation the entity above granted him with was in love with him.
"You are really not invading my space. I'd rather be with you than be alone anyways." He went back to brushing his teeth while Rantaro started opening the toothbrush package.
"I'm glad I'm not. Just tell me to leave whenever, ha ha." Was he already comfortable with staying already? How intriguing.
They finished their routines and walked to work together. Rantaro glanced over at his house on their walk, a wave of guilt washing over him. He sets his eyes forward again, knowing he wouldn't feel guilty when he shows him his 'gift' of sorts; not feeling empathy and feeling intense euphoria at random intervals really messes with his reason and meaning immensely. Thinking to himself was calming at times, others not so much.
'But it helps.' He guesses.
Korekiyo was later that usual while Rantaro was ten to twelve minutes early. No one was in at this time luckily or else there would definitely be some laughs. Rantaro sat down at his desk as Korekiyo walked away with a quiet 'see you later'. Later? The last party is in 8 to 9 hours. He hummed in confusion and continued typing.
