After one day, Miya hating Rantaro would be safely classified as an understatement.
How dare this human befriend his beloved brother that she worked so hard to bend to her will. It wasn't her fault that Korekiyo had been so oblivious to the fact.
"You are such a pleasure to be around, Amami." She inquired sweetly.
"Not really. I don't bring anything to the table in the personality department." He shrugged and rested his elbow on the armrest, laying his head on his balled-up hand.
"No, no, trust me, you do. My dear brother has tastes similar to mine. I shall share my praises later."
Rantaro laughed nervously before leaning backwards into the leather chair. He felt something... smothering about the words Miya so softly slips into his ears. It was like she was stuffing cotton down his ear canal like syrup.
Her wording was so specific too. It was like she was fully aware of the air she was trying to create. Thick and suffocating.
Rantaro didn't like it.
"Did you know Korekiyo was staying over for the weekend?" She brings up suddenly. He breathed in a bit more when he escaped his cluttered mind space.
"Really? I didn't know. I would've ask to visit sooner then."
Rantaro dragged his hands through the field of green strands that was his hair. The microscopic layer of sweat ran miles over his itching scalp, but his smile was left unwavered.
"My dear brother always enjoys company, and me going against his wishes irks my fragile soul so much. Accompany him, why won't you?"
The honey in her voice dragged trudged through Rantaro's heart strings effortlessly. She was just admitted from the hospital and the sister to his friend. Saying no even though he had other things to do would be just downright cruel.
"Ahaha," he audibly laughed, the air from his breaths being more pronounced, "I have stuff to do after school."
She put the back of her hand to her forehead, tilting it back for a greater effect, "It seems that my migraines are acting up again."
She picked herself up with the arm of the chair, hand still on forehead. Rantaro quickly went to her aid in leading her to a bedroom.
"Oh, It's upstairs. Thank you, Amami."
They walked slowly up the stairs before Rantaro stopped at the closest bedroom and laid her on the almost unused material.
"I-I'll get you some water."
He quickly walked to the kitchen, meeting Korekiyo making dinner for the both of them.
"What's the rush, Rantaro?"
"Your sister has a migraine, I'm just getting her some water. Do you have any aspirin lying around anywhere."
Korekiyo puts a pained palm on his chest, "The doctors said that she made a full recovery, how strange. The required medicine is in the cabinet in the bathroom."
Rantaro nodded after filling the cup with cold water. He sat it down on the kitchen table before walking to the unlit bathroom. It took him a second before finding the light switch and spreading the golden light through the room.
He opened the medicine cabinet to be met with the necessities. Medicine bottles, toothbrushes, and some weirdly placed razor blades. He examined them closer to find a light, brownish substance on the tips. He quickly put them back when he heard footsteps approaching, gladly only to find Korekiyo again.
"It's the bottle that says C9H804 on the back. Sorry for the unwarranted assistance but Sister requested it."
He quickly took the bottle and closed the door. Rantaro jumped at his forcefulness before following him to his sister's room.
"One should be enough." Rantaro mumbled before putting the pill in her hand and leaving to return the bottle.
"How considerate." She slyly said after he left.
"Isn't he? I am almost as blessed to have him as I have you."
Her face lost all expression, her cheery red lips slumping in to a thin line seconds after the last syllables from his sentence sounded from his mouth.
"Korekiyo." Her sugar covered words brought back many years of torment in Korekiyo's mind.
"Yes, dear?" He only prepared for he worst.
"I am rather disappointed in you for comparing me to your pretty boy friend." She emphasized 'friend' so much that it hurt Korekiyo internally.
"I apologize-", she banged her hand on the bedside table before he even finished.
"Again." She simply said.
"I apologize-"
Another bang, "Again."
"I-"
"Waste my time with the obligatory 'I' and you are DEAD."
"Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies. Apologies- " He went into the hypnotic chant he knew for so long before she put her index finger over her lips.
"Stop. You are forgiven. For now. Have this happen again and your punishment would be more... severe."
He nodded vigorously before leaving the room for her to rest. She threw the pill under the bed and took a sip of her water before lying down to rest her head. Her brother being so disobedient was out of character for him. Maybe that 'Rantaro' was teaching him this?
She laid sideways into her bed as she sighed. Rantaro walked back inside after what feels like an eternity and looked around. She sat up and smiled in response to this.
"Hey, what's up with Kiyo?" Rantaro only scarcely uses his nickname, but think about his friend's safety was more important.
"He was just upset about my unexpected migraine. The hospital said that I made a full recovery, and me having sudden pains anywhere scares the life out of him."
Rantaro nodded, understanding wholeheartedly, "Well, I guess having a second person over for the weekend would relieve that, huh?"
She smiled smugly, "You accept my offer then? How wonderful."
He nodded slightly, "Yeah, I be going though. I look forward to the visit."
She motioned towards the door with her hand and Rantaro stood up, walking quicker than he should've. He waved a quick goodbye before exiting.
He palmed the back of his pants and sighed in relief to find the suspicious razor blades still in his pockets. He carefully took one out the blade and examined it carefully. He had a feeling of what the substance is but he really didn't want to believe it.
Maybe, Shuichi, Kirumi, or even Kokichi can help.
