A/N: Well, counting down! Only three more chapters after this one! Thank you all for such positive feedback on the last chapter. I was so happy with all the comments I decided to get up early today and write another chapter!! So aren't you lucky?! :P Anyways, this is the Third Task: Part 1, and I hope you all enjoy it! Action ahead, followed by some possible coarse language, I haven't decided yet.. I ususually write the Author's Notes before I write the actual chapter. Sorry for the shortness, but I promise it's action packed. Cheers! xoxox.
Lennox had gotten up extra early that morning, placing a small kiss on Severus's lips before she dressed herself to head back to the Slytherin dormitories. The task itself wasn't until later on that evening, but she wanted to make sure she was primed and ready to go so she didn't leave everything until the last minute. Today was the day she would make history. There was no doubt in her mind that she would be winning this task- even if it was extremely dangerous (or so she had been told). She let out a yawn as she entered the lavatory, stripping herself of dirty clothes before hopping into the steamy hot water of the showers. She smiled as she ran a few fingers through her hair, cleaning her body and shampooing her hair until she felt refreshed enough to finally exit the showers. As soon as she began to brush through her hair, she noticed something particularly odd. Instead of red, blue, or any other color of the rainbow shining through her roots, her entire head of hair had turned such a dark brown it almost looked black.
“Hmm...” she knit her eyebrows together, turning her head to survey her new hair color.. in fact- it actually had turned black. She pursed her lips, and performed a quick drying spell. She slipped on a pair of athletic black leggings, as well as her silver and green shirt with 'Kingsleigh' written across the back. She tied her hair back into a ponytail, and applied a quick layer of makeup before heading down to breakfast. She spotted Hermione munching on toast and reading, just as she did every morning. Lennox walked over at sat across the table from her Gryffindor friend.
“Morning!” Hermione smiled at Lennox, but her expression quickly changed. “Did you dye your hair?” she questioned. Lennox shook her head.
“No.. it just appeared this way when I got out of the shower.” Lennox shrugged, seeing a plate of food appear in front of her. She began to cut the sausage on the plate, taking small bites of it as the two of them conversed.
“Strange.. are you ready for tonight? As a friend of both you and Harry, I will not pick a favorite to win, but I will say good luck.” she smiled, flipping a page in her textbook. Lennox smiled and finished her food, seeing Max and Liam enter the Great Hall. She excused herself from Hermione's presence, and sat down next to them at the Slytherin table.
“Morning future tri-wizard tournament winner.” Liam nudged Lennox playfully, noting the dark color of her hair, but not saying anything.
“Morning.. Max, when this entire thing is over we still have to go back to the ministry and find out how we're supposed to get our inheritance money from mum and dad.” Lennox quickly changed the subject, not wanting to talk about the tournament. Loathe she admit to herself, but she was actually quite nervous about the entire thing.. something was.. off. Something just didn't feel quite right about the final task, and for some reason there was a gut-wrenching feeling that lead her to believe it wasn't going to end well.. but all she could focus on was her night with Severus. She smiled to herself.
“Yeah. Wouldn't we have to wait until school is over?” he questioned with a mouthful of waffles. Lennox shrugged, and bit back her grin so that neither of them would grow suspicious of her behavior. The rest of her family walked into the Great Hall, and they all sat together for the first time in what seemed like forever. Lennox watched them all laugh and joke with eachother, something that sincerely warmed her heart. She glanced to her right, about to say something to Liam, when he spotted that Skylar had sat down on the other side of him. His right hand and her left hand were entwined together underneath the table, and they both had the faintest of smiles on their faces. That day Liam had talked to her about a girl he liked.. it wasn't her- it was Skylar.. Lennox would have never imagined it in her wildest dreams, and to be honest it confused her. A seventh year and a third year.. She would have to have a talk with the two of them later.. her best friend and her sister. Huh.
