Marriya's PoV

"Are you sure you have to go?" I ask weakly.

"Yes."

"Please, Ross. I need you here with me," I say; my voice breaking. He's the only thing that can keep me together right now.

"I don't want to go, baby, but I have to. It's just less then three weeks, and we'll be back home. We can have a party to celebrate Ratliff and Ryland's birthdays."

"As great as that sounds, I still don't want you go."

"Maybe when I'm gone, I can figure out how to tell our parents what needs to be said. They can't stop us from being together, and they need to know that," he murmurs.

I rest my head on his shoulder as we sit against the wall on his bed. His arm snakes around my waist, pulling me closer.

Ross leans in slowly, his hazel eyes locked deeply with mine. I feel his warm, minty breath press against my face, and panic sets in. He is going to kiss me. I cant keep not kissing him, but I don't know if I'm ready. What do I do? As if an answer to prayer, we are interrupted by the door swinging open.

"Mom!" Ross cries, frantically pulling away from me.

"The first show of your tour is tonight at 6. Please make sure you're ready," she says curtly.

"Come on, Mar, lets go," Ross announces, slowly getting to his feet.

"No," Stormie orders. "I want to talk to Marriya."

"Fine," Ross shrugs, moving to sit back down.

"Alone."

Without another word, Ross exits the room, shutting the door behind himself.

I shake my head, wondering when that boy will ever stop being afraid of his mother.

"What do you want?" I ask rudely.

"To end this," she says. "Marriya, you're a beautiful, amazing girl and I don't want to fight with you. My kids all talk so highly of you, I want to see that side of you too."

"It's a bit late for friendship," I state.

"You and Ross aren't right for each other," she replies calmly.

"That's not up to you to decide!" I cry.

"You don't understand what he is going through! There's more to him then meets the eye!"

"He is the most amazing guy I have ever met!" I exclaim. "I don't just see him as the attractive, talented superstar that the fans do. I also see the broken boy hiding underneath. The alcohol addicted person who deals with self hate every day! He thinks he isn't worth it because that what he hears from supposed fans all the time!"

"I'm glad you care about him, Marriya," she says quietly. "But my answer remains the same."

Glaring coldly at her, I stand, storm out of the room, and slam the door behind myself.

"Mar, what's wrong?" Rydel asks.

"Nothing," I lie. After taking a second to compose myself, I continue. "You look so beautiful! I love your dress!"

"Thanks!" She smiles.

"Girls!" Ryland screams from the basement. "We need to go!"

"Alone," my mothers stern voice demands.

Without a second's hesitation, I dart out of the room.
