Emily's PoV
"I've been so excited to shoot this video!" he tells me. "I think it's what we all need right now. A distraction."
"I agree."
"With everything between Ross and Marriya, what Jordan did to Rydel... it's just too much to deal with."
Before I can reply, my favourite song begins blaring from my phone; the screen captivated by the name of my agent.
"I need to take this," I say.
"Okay, I'll meet you out there," Riker says, squeezing my hand softly before running off to catch up with his brothers.
"Hello?"
"Emily, glad I caught you. I have huge news," he says.
"I'm about to shoot Pass Me By at the moment. Can I call you tomorrow?" I ask.
"No, I need you on a plane to New York at 9pm tonight."
"What?"
"Remember that role you auditioned for about a month ago? The movie with Robert Downey Jr?"
"Yeah..." I trail off uncertainly.
"Well they changed their minds about you. Filming starts tomorrow, and they want you there."
"How long will filming take?"
"You will be needed for about a month."
"Okay, thanks so much."
Without a reply, he ends the call.
I know deep down that I need to take this role. A successful career in acting is all I have ever wanted. If I go, this could be the jump start to making my dreams a reality. If I stay, I get to be with Riker.
Sighing, I call the only person I can think of for support.
"Hello?" She answer.
"Hey, Marriya! How would you like to go to New York?"/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
Marriya's PoV
Ending the call, I toss my phone onto my bed. New York was a long way away from LA, but I think that is what I need right now. I have to get some space to clear my head.
I get to my feet, slowly beginning my way to the main floor.
"Hey, Marriya," George calls out as I continue to make my way down the stairs.
"Hey, George. Where is everybody?" I ask, sitting down on the couch beside him.
"Cheryl went shopping with Stormie, and Ratliff is shooting a music video with the Lynch's."
"Oh, Sweet."
"What's up with you?" he asks.
"Emily just called and she invited me to go to New York with her and Rydel for a while. I was wondering if I could go."
"How long is a while?"
"She will be gone for about a month, but Rydel and I will most likely come back before that."
"When do you leave?"
"The plane leaves at 9 tonight," I reply.
George smiles at me before saying, "You can go to New York, but I have one question for you."
"Thank you, and what is it?"
"Are you leaving because you don't want to face Ross?"
"No... I don't know... maybe," I answer honestly.
"I know what he did was extremely wrong, and your mother and I will support you in whatever decision you make."
"I'm just scared I'm going to make the wrong one."
"Marriya, do you love him?" George asks
"Yes," I reply, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Then you need to fight for him."/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
Ross' PoV
"That's a wrap!" The director yells.
"Let's go," I urge my brothers.
"Where is Rydel?" Ratliff asks.
"She left with Emily about two hours ago," Riker answers sadly. "They went to New York."
"She's falling apart," Rocky murmurs.
"She has every right to," Ryland adds. "What Jordan did to her completely broke her. No one can pull themselves back together that fast."
The five of us climb into the vehicle, Riker immediately shifting it into drive. My fingers tap impatiently against everything my hands touch; my vision glued to the blurring countryside. Each passing minute feels like an hour, the frustration within me multiplying rapidly. Could this drive be any longer?
Riker finally pulls into the curb by Ellington's house, clicking the locks open. Ratliff jumps out; his eyes widening as I get out behind him.
"Ross, I don't know if this is a good idea," he warns.
"I don't care! It's killing me to stay away from her! I need to know... I need to hear it from her... please... I just need to know if it's over."
"Okay, let's go," he murmurs.
"Thank you."
We move up the lawn together, walking through the front door to find Cheryl and George sitting together in the family room.
"Where's Marriya?" I ask.
"Should be on a plane to New York by now," Cheryl replies.
"New York?" I cry.
"Yeah, she left here about an hour ago," George replies.
"She went with Rydel and Emily,"I whisper, the realization hitting me harder than a truck.
I feel the tears welling in my eyes. She ran away. She ran away from me. She doesn't love me anymore.
"Ross!" Ellington calls out for me to stop, but I am already halfway out the door. My vision blurs, but I continue running blindly in the direction of my house.
I barrel through the front door, shoving it shut and I stumble and collapse into my stairs.
"Ross, what's wrong?" Rocky asks, standing a few feet from me.
"What's wrong?" I scream. "I made the biggest mistake of my life! Marriya is gone and I don't know if she will ever come back!"
"I'm so sorry," he murmurs.
"Damn it, Rocky!" I sob, my entire body shaking with pain. "I love her."
He opens his mouth, taking a step towards me. Before he can speak, I take off running towards my room.
I close the door behind myself, wiping the tears from my face to no avail. They just keep falling.
A small object resting on my duvet catches my eye. Walking over, I find a small piece of paper with messy handwriting scrawled across it.I'm not giving up on you that easily
-MBeneath the note lies a dull gold necklace. I clasp the pendant tight in my fist, a smile capturing my tear stained face.
Pulling the chain over my head, I allow the object to rest on my chest. It can't be a coincidence that the key falls directly over my heart./\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
So I hope you all liked this chapter, it took me a long time to write. I am quite sick at the moment so I'm sorry if it's not my best work.
I just want to let you guys know that this is not the big betrayal that will be happening. It is coming, but not for a little while.Does anyone understand the key? If so, let me know. I will follow the first person who gets it right :)
As always, vote and leave me a comment :) I love you all so much
