Marriya's PoV
"Hello?" I call out as I walk into the Lynch's house.
Shutting the door, I make my way up to Ross' room.
"He isn't here," Ryland answers before I get a word out.
"When will he be back?" I ask.
"Not sure. He's at the hospital with Delly."
Nodding, I turn to leave. As I walk by Riker's room, I hear muffled sobbing through the closed door.
"Hey," I whisper softly, pushing open the door just enough for me to slip though.
He sits on his bed with his back on the wall, his knees drawn into his chest. His head rests on his arms, his body entire body trembling.
If he hears me enter, he doesn't respond. It's not till I take a seat beside him that he finally makes eye contact with me.
"Are you okay?" I ask, running my fingers through his messy blond hair.
"I don't even know what okay feels like anymore," he murmurs.
"I'm sorry, Riker."
"Don't be," he replies quietly. "I love her, and I did what I had to do."
"I'm sorry that she can't see that," I whisper. "I don't know how to help you move on."
"I don't think I'll ever be able to move on, Marriya. We had something special, something I don't think I'll ever find with another person. I remember this one night when we went for a walk on the beach," he pauses, tears beginning to roll down his cheeks. "She said she wanted to grow old together. As much as she wanted to live in that moment forever, she wanted a family. Emily wanted two girls, Rhian and Ryleigh."
After the names come out, he breaks down sobbing. I hold him tight to me; at a complete loss for words.
"Marriya, she was supposed to be my forever and always."
"She might still be," I murmur.
"I ended that chance, and now we're both suffering from a broken heart."
"Let me tell you something, Riker. The thing about a broken heart is that it's not fatal. Though you wish in vain that it were, life continues on and you have no choice but to continue on with it. You take the hand that fate has dealt you and you press forward because there is nothing else that can be done," I whispers.
"I don't know if I can," he murmurs. "She was my best friend."
"She was mine, too," I say. "Riker, I know you did what you did because you love her. She doesn't see it the way you do right now, but maybe one day she will."
Wrapping his arms around me, he holds me tight and begins to sob again. We sit together for a long time, him crying until he has no more tears. Soon, we just sit together in a comfortable silence.
Suddenly my phone begins ringing; causing me to pull away from the hug.
"I need to take this," I say, climbing off his bed.
"Go for it," he murmurs, wiping another set of tears from his face.
"I love you, Riker."
"I love you too, Mar."
Pressing his door shut, I accept the call.
"Hey, Mikkey," I say, closing the door of Ross' now empty bedroom behind myself.
"Hey, Marriya, are you okay?"
"I'm fine," I reply shakily.
"When a girl says she's fine, she's not really fine," Mikayla points out.
She's about to continue when I cut her off.
"I just have a lot going on," I reply curtly.
"Tell me what's going on."
"Everything is falling apart!" I scream. "Sam is dead! Emily left, and I don't think she's ever coming back! Rydel lost her baby, and the band might be over for good!"
"It's gonna be okay, Mar," a voice reassures me, but it isn't Mikayla.
"I'll have to call you back," I say softly before hanging up the phone.
"What do you want, Ryland?"
"I heard you yelling, and I wanted to make sure that you were okay," he replies.
"Well I'm fine," I snap.
"You don't sound fine," he says calmly. "You're my best friend, and you can tell me."
"Ryland, I'm scared. Nothing is the way it used to be anymore, and I don't know how much longer I can keep pretending that I'm okay."
"That's the thing about family," he says. "You don't have to pretend for us."
"I'm just scared. I lost Sam for good, Rydel's baby is gone, I almost died the other day, my best friend moved across the country to get away form my boyfriend's brother, and R5 might be over for good," I ramble.
"Marriya, I'm really sorry about Sam. As for the rest of those things, they're nothing that we can't move past. We're a family, and this family stays together. Always remember, ohana."
He pulls me into tight hug, pressing a kiss to my cheek as he lets me go.
"I should probably leave you be," I say.
"I actually have a question for you," he replies.
"Okay, shoot."
"Would it be bad to wear a snapback when taking a girl out for the first time?" Ryland asks.
"Depends, where are you taking her?" I reply.
"We're going bowling."
"Ooh," I smirk, waggling my eyebrows at him.
"What?" he laughs.
"Is this just any girl, or the girl?"
"I have a date with her tonight," he admits. "I have to call her and cancel though."
"What? Why?" I demand.
"I'm so nervous I think I'm going to puke."
"Ryland you have to go! It will be fun!"
"Marriya, I can't do this alone," he admits. Suddenly, his eyes light up. "Unless..."
"No!" I say immediately.
"Come on, Mar! I heard it will be fun!"
"Ross isn't even home tonight," I reason.
"Rocky is, take him!" Ryland replies immediately.
"Fine," I grumble. "But you owe me one."
"Thank you!" he cries, pulling me into a hug.

Hey guys :) I know a while back I asked if any of you guys wanted to be a girlfriend of a character in the story. I can't find those comments, so I'm making this. I need a girlfriend for Ryland for sure, and maybe a girl for Rocky in the next chapter. Comment below your name and physical appearance and you might become a character in the story :)
I'm sorry for not updating lately, I just have a lot going on. I feel like these chapters aren't coming out great, but I really hope you guys like them :)
