Marriya's PoV
Mikayla kinda flips when I tell her about Ellington.
"OHMYGOSH! Marriya, you have to talk me up to the boys! I will come visit you and...HOLY CRAP!"
"Ross is so sweet," I admit.
"Do you like him?" She gasps.
"Maybe," I giggle.
A knock at my door interrupts whatever Mikayla is about to say.
"I gotta go. Bye!"
"Bye, beautiful. Call me soon!"
Laughing to myself, I end the call.
"Hello?" a voice calls through the door.
"Come in, Ellington," I reply.
"Hey, Marriya," he greets, pushing the door open.
"What's up?"
"Well the guys and I are heading out to the beach and we were wondering if you wanted to come," he says happily.
"Sure!"
His smile soon fades into a serious expression. "Marriya, can I talk to you for a second?"
"Yea, sure," I reply nervously.
Slowly, he walks forward and sits opposite to me on the edge of my bed.
"What's up?" I ask.
He stares intently at me, but doesn't speak. Every time he looks like he's about to, he closes his mouth with uncertainty.
"Ellington?" I ask again, quickly beginning to panic.
"Marriya," he says. "I just want to say I'm sorry."
"What? Why?"
"For not being there for you." He answers. "I remember the day they took you. I was 5 years old. I never even got to hold you. They took you out of the room, and you never came back. I believed I would see you again though. I always hoped someday you would just walk through the door like nothing had ever happened and we could be really close like the Lynch's. It hurt sometimes to see how happy they are together. Knowing that somewhere in the world, there was a person I could do that with. Only she wasn't there, and she might never be."
"Oh my gosh," I murmur.
"When you walked into the room yesterday, I was speechless. I didn't expect you to be so... strong."
"I'm not strong," I interrupt, tears welling in my eyes.
He moves towards me and sits close, brushing away a fallen tear from my cheek. "People cry, not because they are weak, but because they've been strong for too long," he whispers to me. "I may not have made the best first impression on you, but please don't write me off yet."
"I never even imagined I would get so lucky to have a brother like you," I smile, tears continuing to stream down my face. "I may not be the easiest person to get along with, but please don't give up on me."
"I won't," he promises. "Now go get ready. I will wait for you downstairs."
Giving his hand a gentle squeeze, I slowly stand up and make my way to my closet.
Even though I was there when we bought the clothes, my eyes still widen at the sight. I seriously make London Tipton look like she has a tiny wardrobe.
Quickly, I change into one of my new electric blue bikinis. I pull a thin, bright pink tank top with shredded sides over my head before grabbing my sunglasses and phone and heading out the door.
