"I had a great time tonight," he murmured.
"Me too," I replied softly.
As we reached my front door, I slipped my hand from his. A giggle erupted from my chest as his hands locked around my wrist, pulling me back into to his arms.
"You look so beautiful," he said.
"Thanks."
"Thanks?" He cried, pushing me roughly away from him. "That's all you have to say?"
"I... umm... I..." I stuttered.
"You stupid, selfish, slut! I can't-"
"I'm sorry!" I cut in.
"Interrupting me too!" He screamed. "You have some nerve!"
He swung his arm in one swift movement, his large palm connecting with my face. My body flew helplessly towards the house, slamming mercilessly into the door. My hip felt as if a bullet had tore through it; blood seeped from a cut at my hairline.
"Oh my gosh," he cried immediately. "Marriya, I'm so sorry!"
His arms encircled me again, and I allowed my body to fall into his.
"I don't know what came over me, Baby. I'm so sorry, I promise it will never happen again. I love you."
The sad thing is, I actually believed him.
My eyes shoot open to find myself surrounded by darkness; my body jolts upright. I can't help the tears welling in my eyes, but I try to keep silent. Ryland's snores carry loudly across the room, but it's not him I'm worried about.
"This needs to stop," I whisper; completely panicked.
"Marriya?" Ross asks, his voice deep and husky from sleep. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," I lie, turning my face away as I attempt to blink away the tears.
I feel his arms wrap around me, pulling me back into his chest.
"We don't have to talk about it if you don't want. Just know I'm here for you. I'll always be here for you."
"Sing to me?" I request weakly.
"I don't mind standing everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay a while
And she will be loved"
I smile internally, knowing for the first time in a long time, I am loved.

"Did you get it?" I hear a distant voice ask.
"Yeah, I got a bunch," another voice replies.
"Awesome!" A third voice cries.
"Ryland!" Someone scolds. "Shut it!"
"You're gonna wake them up!"
I peel my eyes open to find Ryland, Riker, Ratliff, and Rocky standing beside Ross's bed, iPhones in hand.
"What the hell?" Ross asks before yawning loudly, which Rocky manages to snap a picture of.
"Delete it," Ross demands immediately.
"From my phone?"
"Yes," Ross breathes impatiently.
