Welcome Back! I know, I'm a day late. lol. . :)
Don't forget to comment or like. *igne nos umbra sumus means 'if we are shadows we are fire' in latin*
Lydia POV: At the party, I was on my way to get a glass of juice, when I suddenly feel hands on my shoulders- I turn around surprised to see Rafe before me, a simple tux with no tie, his hair in purposeful tangles.
His expression is what caught me off guard; he looked bewildered, and staggered, as if he had just seen a ghost or something worse than that even. I reach out both hands to keep him steady by the elbow, as he held my shoulders tightly, as if for extra support.
"Raf... What is it? are you ok?" I look around him for any sort of injury, but he seems completely fine.
"No.... yes- I'm fine... but... it's" he takes in a gulp of air, as if the words themself were taking his breath away.
"it's.... " he shakes his head with defeat, and simply moves behind me, pushing me away from the table of food, toward the front door.
"What.... What am I looking at?" There were at least 50 people huddled together. The sight was strange, but that wasn't strange enough to baffle me in any way.
"Raf... really, it's just a crowd of people. How could that possibly-" Right then, a tall man and a few others move aside. I let go of Rafe, letting him find his footing. I could barely support myself at the sight. It was Sebastian; and Jade at his side.
I take a step forward, not really thinking, and start shouting her name,
"JA-" Before I could even finish the first call, Raf cuts in front of me, and puts his hand over my face; his pointer finger over his lips, shushing me.
"I know it's Jade- But I wouldn't call out like that if I were you. She might not be so pleased to see you right now...."
"What do you mean? It's Jade, she's my sister-"
"You didn't see her face Lydia. You didn't hear the way she called your name. It was as if she hated you for some reason... Whatever Sebastian did to her, changed her. "
Cursing, I bring the sword to my side, Raf giving me raised eyebrows at the sight of the sword that of course, was not seen, even with just this cocktail dress and heels.
I move through the tables and chairs that were now emptied. Strangely, The path that lead was still crowded, even as people all around were scattering, searching for their personel's, pushing one another aside. As tables turned, and rage broke through.
I couldn't see through the same group that seemed to stand there frozen. Mostly werewolves, and a few warlocks. I guess vampires were less acquaint. Not that anyone here was welcoming Jonathan or Jade, but vampires seemed more focused on finding their own way out.
I look at Raf once more. I knew he was right about Jade. With all that she's gone through at home, and what we dreamed about together, everything we saw pointed towards this; her fall wasn't litteral falling, it was falling as an angel. it was changing her fate from good... to evil. Raf gave me a nod, his expression solem. At that moment, it was as if I finally had a mind to read again. His look said enough to know what he thought. Go. I won't stop you. SO I do. Right away, I start pushing by without hesitance, and I don't turn around to check if Raf was following me or not.
I didn't care at that moment, as I push aside an fury worlock, and a mundane looking wolf- that Jade was may look like she's in flames, and has the want to kill me. That she has changed from good to evil; she was still Jade in there somewhere, and from what I remember, when she falls, it was my job to bring her back. Even if things were said differently, I would do it anyway. She was my sister; I wasn't going to let her go no matter the cost.
